Rewatch Unpopular Opinion: Volk won the first fight.....Round 4 is the key

It's a pretty clear 49-46 for Islam, 48-47 at worst, there's no justification for Volk winning and it wasn't even a controversial decision when it happened. Pretty sure no one on Volk's team thought he won. You're delusional.

Volk said it was a close fight. He's a classy guy. Control doesn't really matter with the new scoring criteria. Volk landed more in round 4 and landed the harder shots. Volk won round 4 and so according to the judges scorecards, he won the fight. Cejudo had it for Volk. You don't think you know more about MMA than Henry Cejudo, do you?

Round 2 is also a split round. Round 4 should have gone to Volk, but it was never going to because of positional control with no offence and the judges not being able to follow their own scoring criteria because BJJ scores the back highly.

After tomorrow it won't matter either way.

Gotta get younger people in positions of authority who understand the sport, then a system can be made for judging and scoring that's exclusive to mma.

Volk got dropped and/or wobbled on several occasions and got taken down and controlled for large portions of the fight. It was competitive, for sure, but you have to be biased if you think Volk won on the scorecards.

Volk and his team broke it down round by round, he still thinks he won the fight but he concedes that he lost round 4 100%. According to the rule book he lost that round, according to your own imagination of how fights should be scored maybe he won, but that’s irrelevant.
