It gets people talking. If it's a gimmick it's a bad one. How does making himself look like a duck help him?
Huh? Yes, Merab doesn't want it at any time or any place. Umar didn't say he didn't want Australia, he said the UFC probably wouldn't put them there and offered the January card and Merab already didn't want that, so Umar was going to take another opponent instead of waiting for Merab to quit ducking. The hand injury didn't take him out of a fight with Merab, he was going to fight down in the rankings on that card because Merab ducked. The videos are just dumb banter. That doesn't mean he's seriously trying to duck Umar lol.
Umar can't fight in Jan. Umar said on twitter that they won't put them in Australia in Feb (not sure why he thinks this, but whatever). Umar can't fight in March because of absolutely no reason relevant to fighting.
Does this guy actually want to fight Merab or not? Maybe he should just skip the ramadan and fight him during that if he's actually serious.
Like, for Umar it all has to be at a certain time and not in certain places, or Merab is the duck? How does that work lol.
The way Umar tries to dictate things, you'd think he's the champ already and not just someone with just 1 top 15 win.
What a dumb thing to post considering Umar was trying to get a fight in early next year before Ramadan so that it would be a non factor. He’s even willing to fight another contender despite being told he’s next for a TS simply because he wants to fight. It’s absolutely bonkers how folks think a certain group of fighters should just get to refuse fights for 3 months or so every single year and blame everyone else.

And of course, as everyone predicted, Merab will suddenly be ready to fight again as soon as Ramadan starts, and your excuse is that Umar and his whole team should just convert religions because the guy with 2 fights in 21 months can only fight during ramadan.
Yes, that is what we call a duck. Everybody knew when Umar beat Sandhagen 4 months ago the exact card Merab would try to fight on, and everyone knows the exact reason why. Every champ with a Dagestani top contender is bashful all year, and then suddenly find some balls and demand a fight on the 1 card every year when they know the Dagestanis are fasting.Merab doesn't have to want it at any time or place. It's Umar that goes on like that, but then has all sorts of excuses.
My point is Umar is going on about Merab not wanting to fight him, but then he's got all these reasons why the fight can't happen until like April anyway.
And it doesn't matter if Merab is ready to fight around when Ramadan starts. If that's when it works out for him and the UFC then so what? Other fighters and the UFC shouldn't have to work out around Ramadan, which has absolutely nothing to do with fighting.
I didn't say Umar should convert religions lol. He should either give Ramadan a miss this year or just be quiet a bit and wait for his shot.
The plot thickens.Wasn't he claiming Merab wouldn't fight him in DEC & JAN? Yet he was the one unable to even get cleared to fight lol

I mean he is the champ, why should he accommodate to Umar's BS?Merab is gonna try to fight in feburary/march conveniently during Ramadan, just watch
These excuses to duck keep getting flimsier. Lol, so "the UFC crew" need several months after their "holiday" to "ease back into the year", but when it's the 1500 year old month of fasting that everyone knows about well in advance, Umar just needs to convert to Christianity and eat some bacon so he can take a cage fight on the exact card that Merab hasn't even agreed to either. Only problem with that is there are 7 cards and 2 PPVs after the new year before UFC 313, so the "taking time off and easing back into it" doesn't make any sense.Bro, Jan and Feb is right after the new year. Half the UFC crew is on holidays themselves at that time. The UFC always take some time off and then ease back into it each year. It makes sense that the UFC and fighters aren't trying for big fights right out of the gate.
And again, the solution is simple for Umar and the Dagestanis: don't fast lol. No one is forcing them to do this, and it has nothing to do with fighting. If they don't want to fight during that time then that's on them. Champs and the UFC don't need to accommodate them over some religious thing. The dagis can go and do that stuff on their own time and miss out if they want.
And who are these champs with Dagi/muslim contenders that get bashful exactly? Pantoja, Topuria, DDP, Alex, and Jon/Aspinall are the other non-fasting champs. None of those guys give a fuck.
Yes the MMA world and the title picture should cow tow to Ramadan. So Umar can't fight in Jan, and can't fight in Feb or March because of something he chooses to do that has nothing to do with fighting.
But yes, Merab is the duck lol.

I get it, Umar is heavily favored for good reason, and Merab knows that losing would probably send him down to prelims with his buddy Aljo to put on more snoozers. He's right to be scared and look for any excuse to get out of it, but kind of silly to pretend that's not exactly what he's doing.
