International UK Prime Minister declares his support of cousin marriage

It's never been illegal to marry your cousin. I mean, in the majority of white British communities you'd be rightfully looker upon as a weird cunt for doing so. But it was never illegal. Definitely a higher percentage of it happening in certain immigrant communities due to arranged/forced marriages and wanting to keep specific "clans" bloodlines going but that was never illegal either. None of it was. Just very frowned upon and rightly so, if you were a native Brit. Don't see how this makes any difference to how its always been.

If you have a weird custom/religious rite of marrying your cousin from the same village then you would feel ostracized by the law

I don't know why they do it,but its a fact that certain groups are big on it.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make anymore. If people feel targeted by this that's on them for practicing something that's causing public health issues.

Oh no?:

In the UK of 1700, first cousin marriages were relatively common, especially among the upper classes, with many people marrying within their extended family networks due to social and economic pressures, making it a fairly frequent occurrence, though exact statistics are difficult to determine; however, it was not as widespread as in some other European regions at the time.

Funny you have to go back 300 years for that

Britain will end up bankrupt.

It was already when certain groups were minorities. It's no longer affordable.

I hear West Virginians are saying....

The Brits have become little bitches as a nation. I know there are some that are not, but damn... what a national tragedy.

The fall of western principles and ethics right in front of your eyes people

The US is full of Cousin-f*ckers. UK Royalty exists because of Cousin-f*cking. But sure it's the end of principals and ethics if the perception is that the brown people are doing it.

What if they're gay or infertile cousins? And how far does this go? Should ethnicities at risk for recessive diseases be barred or otherwise have their marriages regulated?
Should close family incest be allowed if one of the parties are sterile?

The question was why would it make them feel unwelcome. If the US passed a law making fish and chips illegal you'd feel unwelcome.

I asked what the stats were for birth defects in the UK. No one has posted any.

Isn't that how we derive our "culture"? From things our ancestors did and passed down to us?

The US has a gun culture because of shit our ancestors did 250 years ago.

It may not be common practise today, but it is British culture.

Charles Darwin married his first cousin for example.

It makes them feel uncomfortable because that's what they do, it doesn't mean it was targeted towards them they just happen to practice that bullshit.

The thing is it hasn't been passed down, native Brits look at cousin marriage as backwards and repulsive so to say it's part of their culture is incorrect.

As for stats here is something from. A quick search, it a little old but the numbers won't be getting any better as the population of people who practise it increase

Yeah. That was quite a while ago I think? Not in the 1900s? Maybe just inside. Lots of stuff happened then that you wouldn't accept now. Burning women for being witches etc. Again, cousin marriage is fucking weird but has never been illegal. Its mocked if you're white. Heavily mocked. Not white? Crack on. It feels a bit like reverse racism. "They know no better. Let them continue without ridicule."

But ultimately it seems like tribalism. Lots of these people come from countries where modern tribalism is a major thing. They refuse to reproduce with other "tribes" to keep their own bloodline "pure". Its not something westerners understand. But it's also not illegal and its just weird but so are many other things.
