In America most studies on the effects of consanguinity when I was in school were using Mormons, Amish and the like as populations to study. So yeah, probably not great.

I've woken up and decided to be serious for a moment.

The only muslim girl I've been romantically invested in back in my 20's basically had to keep me a secret as her family had already arranged her marriage with another chap. Never knew whether it was within the same family but I imagine it was.

I do feel for the girls, they are powerless against the control of their elders/men in their families.

Thanks for the link and the effort. Im not complaining about the study; it is what it is, but a couple things that I would note:

-your article says that @1% of white Brittish respondents were 1st cousin marriages.

- the study found that 6173 non-related couples had 105 kids with birth defects. Which suggest that 1897 Pakistani cousins had 36.

What it doesnt tell us is how many of those non-cousins were immigrants from Pakistan or of any other country (eliminating any prior environmental factors) or account for the age of the mothers having the kids. It just lumps the non-cousin marriages into a single pot and the releated marriages into a single pot.
