The UK version is one thing but other parliamentary variations require parties to form coalitions to get over 50% if there is no clear. While not perfect I certainly think it's an improvement over the two party system in America
My idea is all elections should have a 'none of the above' or 'no confidence' option. If this option wins then all candidates are thrown out and a new election with a new batch is scheduled
Yep, the problem with the radical left is they find it really, really hard to comprehend that the vast majority of people are NOT radical. The vast majority of people are largely content in life and do not want radical change or extreme leftism. Which is why they'll never be happy with a Labour leader unless he's Corbyn (and we saw how little people genuienly wanted Corbyn when he ran for PM). They don't get that most people are quite moderate in their views.
I saw my first pro-Palestine protest in the flesh yesterday outside my local Labour candidate's offices. I saw so many people in that group that I have seen at other protests for things that annoy the fuck out of me like pro-trans bullshit. It's the exact same crowd and although I wasn't going to, Im going to vote Labour to fuck their minds up and make them even more miserable than they already are.
Welsh Labour have done my head in since covid, but they're the lesser of two evils (and several pointless options).
My genuine only factor I'm looking for is which party will get rid of the gender bullshit from schools because I feel it's poisonous shite that is going to lead to disaster for many people. However, as expected, no party is truly addressing this in their manifesto.
When Labour win, the left will dominate the House of Commons, state education, universities, all broadcast media (apart from GB News), multiple newspapers, the NHS, adult social care, the judiciary and the arts. That's just off the top of my head, there may well be others.
For years the left has told us that our problems stem from Tory meanness. Everything is underfunded and the solution to everything is some variation of 'the government needs to do something'.
Very soon there will be no excuse.
I'm not expecting paradise from day one but I've been led to believe that our problems can all be fixed with more money and kindness.
What I think will actually happen is that they will realise that our problems are far more complicated than that. There are somethings that are beyond the control of our national government and other things that their idiology won't allow them to address. Also, a lot of their ideas are just stupid and won't work in the real world.
This will result in failure and the following two excuses will be put forward:

Well money would certainly go a long way but there is none which is a bit of a problem UK PLC is pretty broke , my fear is rather than address that problem they'll slip into a SNP style effort to 'improve' the population rather than do the hard yards to sort the country out......' Jobs,Homes,Security ' was the Bennite mantra and it should be the focus of a Labour (or any other) government .

You can write 'none of the above' or whatever you want on your ballot, and if enough people did this de facto they would have to at least make concessions. It's a good thing at least we don't have voting machines, you can't spoil your ballot on them, apart from the fact that they can be rigged much more easily. Probably cost a fortune as well.
Perhaps a lot of people who are eligible to vote but don't, don't because they don't endorse any of the candidates, or the system itself. In Australia as I'm sure you know, you can get fined for not voting, so that's another small positive.
They also have PR in Australia, which a lot of people say would be fairer. It brings its own problems though.

I've noticed this too but not for the same reason. Once I visited England for a day during a protest to save the NSH and there were people marching in it from the Right2Water protest in Ireland. in the Right2Water protest in Ireland there was an anarchist group from the USA.
The latest YouGov MRP for Sky News projects Labour would have the second largest majority since the Second World War while the Tories will slump to their lowest level of MPs.

Labour are on course for a majority of 200 according to a new YouGov projection, which also suggests the Tories will slump to their lowest number of seats at an election since the party's formation in 1834.
If this projection is replicated when the country goes to the polls on the 4th of July, Labour would have the second largest majority since the Second World War.
If this and other MRP polls are accurate, it suggests Britain is on the cusp of a fundamental redrawing of the political landscape.
This would break all historical records, putting the Tories well below their previous low of 141 seats in 1906 under Arthur Balfour.
It puts Sir Keir Starmer's Labour on course for a commanding 425 seats, more than double the 202 seats won in the 2019 election, and beats all previous records for Labour since the party was founded at the start of the last century.
The Liberal Democrats would win 67 seats under this projection, a huge six times the number of seats they won in 2019.
This would be the highest number since the formation of the Lib Dems, a record previously set in 2005 when Charles Kennedy was leader.
Meanwhile, John Swinney's SNP are projected to drop to 20 seats under this projection, down from the 48 won by Nicola Sturgeon in the last general election.
Interesting, so the country that started this shit show won't vote for the radical who started the shit show in the first place. Meanwhile everyone else decided to ride the wave.

I think the problem a lot of left wing people have is that they know Communism with a capital C (Mao, Stalin, USSR, etc.) doesn't work and most people reject it. However, most of their ideas are based on the concept of achieving equality across all dimensions in society.
Therefore, whilst they won't come out and start urging the workers to seize control of the means of productions, their ultimate aims are hard to distinguish from communism.
Ask a moderate lefty if they want equality of outcome in any given area and they will struggle to say no.
Violence/Genocide: Do not condone violence or genocide on a person or group of people. You are free to attack a person or groups ideas but you are crossing the line when calling for violence. This will be heavily enforced in threads with breaking news involving victims.
