UFN 125 - Anders vs Machida - Brazil

The worst thing about getting older is watching your favorite fighters become the stepping stone for upcoming fighters to use to jump into the spotlight.

Machida please....

Also Pettis/Chiesa, the first thing I thought was Chiesa was gonna win. I hope Pettis could pull it off but he's regressed so much and doesnt have the boxing to exploit the terrible Chiesa striking.

Anders is not as inexperienced as some people think. He has an extensive amateur career with 17 fights (13-3-1) so he should be relatively comfortable in the cage now.

Andrade barely throws hooks in the first place, wide or not. The majority of his punches are jabs and straights, with some uppercuts thrown in there now and then. Add that with his kicks and he shows decent diversity in his attacks. Doesn't mind too much going backwards either, and shows a measured and methodical approach. So basically... he fights nothing like Lineker? I think your confidence is misplaced if that's your assesment of Andrade.

He does have good kicks but I’d still compare him to lineker in how he plots forward and doesn’t really set anything up well/relies on his toughness. He does throw a lot of random looping overhands and nearly everything full power. If he doesn’t land he gets flustered, also suspect gas tank when fights past the 2nd.

Just don’t think he fares well against high level guys (which I believe Vera has the potential to be @135)

The important question is the 'who', though. Anders has 1 win over UFC competition, and Natal didn't look like himself in that fight.

lmfao at maia's record. not one of the opponents she has beaten (none of whom have a win between them) has had a fight last longer than 90 seconds! She defeated some girl by decision who a few months prior lost both her ammy fights in under two mins. This is the worst record I have ever seen she even fought the same girl back to back within a month!

1u Golm/Johnson O1.5 @1.90
Johnson KOd only by Albini, but Albini has some nice boxing technique, a lot better than Golm, who has KOd only some brazilian regionals with almost no wins.

To me it's enough of a red flag heading into his first fight in Brazil in a hot arena. It's one of those factors to influence a play if you are sitting on the fence betting for or against him.

He looked better than ever in his first fight after that. Think it was an unusual situation like @Sadistics said

luri struggling to pull the trigger. I'm liking Soto here. Still like santos at 1.38 too. Smith plods about at a perfect range for santos for too long. Speed power difference. Could get him out there quick. Takedowns there easy if he chooses. Smith gonna need to be aggressive to stay in this with jab and straight punches. I'm seeing value on santos. 2nd everything sadistics said few pages back also

Great work! Thank you

I’m amazed by people who still line up to pay juice for Tim means. I just don’t get it.

It's possible that he could be overpriced here, but it's not like he has a long history of losing fights he should've won or anything. In his last 12 fights as the betting favorite, he went 9-3. Those losses were to Belal (by super-tight decision), Oliveira (where he only moved to favorite status in their 2nd fight due to their no contest a few months ealier) and Neil Magny (who was very underrated at the time). At times his fights are closer than needed and he makes you sweat for your money, but I definitely don't consider him a fighter who constantly shits the bed, despite how his last venture into Brazil turned out.

Me either man, I think they bet he will win the stand up battle and dont get taken down. I dont trust Means in 2018

Man. Santos has looked soooooo good lately

Lot of us thought Belal was also. I think he wins. But I don't trust him 1 bit as a fave here

Belal wasnt tho belal is legit with high volume and good standup. Moraes stand up sucks and so do his td's. Means tdd has improved drastically.
