UFC's Conor ass kissing is embarassing

Yeah, but pre-Brock most of them knew to shut the fuck up about that stupid shit, and the pro wrestling forum grew probably from japanese pro wrestling which was much more closely associated with MMA than the homoerotic USA version.

Pre-brock any 'how would [pro wrestler] do in MMA?' threads got wastelanded pretty much instantly.
There were numerous pro wrestlers in the ufc anc pride before Brock......

Conor doesn't have to do anything except show up and throw tantrums every now and then and the ratings will still be better than with any other coach possible by an enormous margin. It gives more exposure to the contestants regardless.

Who cares if he's not there coaching as he should? It's not like he's an actual coach. He's a slimebag. It's entertainment television. Conor makes people tune in. It's that simple.
i wonder if he really is still that big of a needle mover.

i mean, what's the appeal now? the last time conor looked great in a fight was in 2016.

i understand people prefer drama over the sport aspect of the show, and he obviously brings the drama with his shenanigans, but i honestly don't get why anyone would be excited to see conor do anything these days. i have a hard time getting fired up to see his fights, let alone some stupid shit like this.

i guess i'm just old and grumpy now.

Because he is loud, scandalous, funny, gets drunk and high, and in fights all the time. He attracts idiots and impressionable young crowds who are looking for a showman. Or maladapted adults.

Chael was a wrestler who mostly went to decisions. Not exactly the blueprint for exciting fighting. Yet he became one of the biggest stars in the UFC because of his mouth and antics.

It is, at the end of the day, entertainment. And Conor is fun to an audience of benighted morons.

These days Conor is more interested in his appearance. That's why he got a face job, hair transplant and bulked up. Before he got a truck full of cash, he was a winner. Now he's just a rich and can't beat anyone half decent.

When he beat Aldo he should have humbled himself and grown as a fighter but he doubled down as a know-it-all and for the last 7 years he's a bum pretending to be someone great. Biggest cancer to the sport there ever war.

yeah but that's the thing. chael was only a star as long as he was performing well.

during his rise, he wasn't exciting, but he was either winning impressively, like against okami, marquadt, then against stann and bisping, or he was giving the best fighter in the world in silva a really good fight. whether you liked him or hated him, you were drawn to see him compete between 2009 and 2012. after the jones fight, nobody really gave a fuck about him anymore, because he couldn't put it together where it really mattered.

i'm not disputing anything you're saying, it makes sense, i'm just surprised (annoyed?) that people keep tuning in for a guy who's won once in 7 years and instead got owned like 5 times during that time.

First Jones vs Stipe, now were crying about the biggest star the sport has ever seen getting a big fight and hosting TUF? I swear, people post threads on here acting like they don't know how the UFC works.

Conor had a fantastic run at FW. And then managed to grab the LW belt, that was enough. With his gargantuan charisma and delusions of grandeur, it was sufficient to keep him at the top of the entertainment factor.

Remember, Chael was still a huge draw even after losing contendership, and kept making enormous bank, to this day Having a mouth and shit talking sells more than being a good fighter. Ask Ankalaev, or Merab. Chael was not Conor level, but Chael never grabbed two belts at the UFC either, nor is he as wild. But still, it makes the point.

I despise Conor, and wish he would go away from the sport, and possibly to jail. But the explanation you're looking for is not hard to find.

The majority of people these days, particularly younger people, are selfish assholes so naturally they are attracted to one of their own like Conor.

Am I the only one who simultaneously isn’t bored by Conor but also is t offended by Conor either?

I think he’s exciting and charmsiric half the time. He’s lovely to watch inside the octagon. I think he could lose to chandler tho. His genes are Shitty and he’s not taking proper care of his self

So he shouldn't have won the second belt or made $100,000,000 boxing Floyd?

he should have "humbled himself"??

agree to disagree

Which guys are his teammates other than Katona?

I don't think any of Conor's fighters need him show up and hold their hand at a frigging weigh in. What an absurdly trivial thing to bash Conor for.
