UFC releases Yushin Okami

Awful decision. Of course the UFC is getting more stupid by the day with their business decisions so this is hardly shocking.

Lets cut a perennial contender who is making peanuts and keep a guy like Lombard who is vastly overpaid and has not done anything on the big stage thus far. Oh yeah and Okami beat his ass. Makes a ton of sense.

Uncle Dana talks about wanting to expand the brand into the Japanese market and bringing back PRIDE like excitement and then cuts the BIGGEST name they had on the roster (with respect to Akiyama). Makes a ton of sense.

Dan Hardy and Chris Leben can lose 10 fights in a row but because they are one dimensional fighters and just fight like human punching bags they get to keep their jobs but a TRUE MMA practitioner like Okami who has skills in all facets of the game gets cut because he is well rounded? Makes a ton of sense.

And I dont think Lombard, Hardy, or Leben should be cut either, there is a place for those guys as well but Okami deserves to have a job over them and many others. Hes obviously not the most "exciting" fighter, but to those of us who truly understand what MMA is and stands for, Okami is definitely one of the elite.

Its reasons like this that I no longer give the UFC any money anymore. What a joke.

MMA doesnt own the HW talent pool, because it goes to other sports, so LHW and MW are two of the biggest marquee divisions, and MW is already thread bare.

It's a pathetic display yet Lombard is the one who decided to hold on Okami doing nothing. It's his fault as much as anybodies Hector didn't have the energy to finish Okami.

IF that ever happens on a much larger scale, then at that point they will make the proper adjustments to bring you and people like you back. But until then they'll keep doing what is working best for them at the moment. I really have my doubts that that many knowledgeable fans are going to start to hold the UFC accountable on such a large scale anytime soon and enough to make a difference.
