UFC releases Yushin Okami

are people likelier to watch a card with overeem or okami?

I guess Overeem to see him get folded like pretzel one more time before he gets the boot too even their homeboy Mir is on thin ice lol

I think UFC is a joke nowadays...

who wants to see half of the roster nobody knows or any of the grinders? why keep any of em if that's the attitude? I'd keep Okami over half of these guys that are just like him anyways.

Papy and his cigars were cast off, as well.

Yep, it seems he's off the roster indeed...

Point still stands. Pokrajac or Kingsbury may be examples instead, just on the top of the head.

And I like those dudes.

He's not one of their best fighters, because in order to be a fighter you actually have to fight. Not hug and cuddle your opponent for 15 minutes at a time.

His entire game was just based around making a "fight" slow down and grinding guys with his cage hugging and dry humping. I'm glad I never have to watch that bullshit anymore or pretend that what he's doing is fighting.

Okami, Volkman, and Fitch were the best cuts the company has ever made.

You're probably right. I'll check the ratings to be sure, though. Wait... no, he's a universally top 10 rated MW.

This sucks. Why in the world would a successful get the slip?

Anyone who thinks Okami is boring is delusional. Don't even compare him to Fitch.

How can someone be delusional on something that's totally subjective?

And Okami appeals to the Japanese...
I actually enjoyed his fights.

I agree Okami is one of my favorite fighters.

I was just saying Munoz and Bisping are safe outside of a deep skid.

Expand? I don't follow.

What does the ufc not signing okami have to do with sport legitimacy at all. If Yankees don't resign cano does that mean baseball is an illegitimate sport.

Well, unfair release. After i saw that i immediately thought that KSW should pick him up to test their MW.

Depends how they value his name/drawing power vs the likelyhood he beats Schlemenko. Don't want some UFC reject embarassing their champion.

But, it's probably Okami's best opportunity to make money in the sport if he's ruling out a return to the UFC. If his goal is to return to the UFC, he might be better off in WSOF, Legacy or RFA (RFC? Whatever the one Ed Soares is running).

You can apply that to the majority of fighters in the UFC, though. Johny Hendricks is never going to be champ, but they're going to keep him around for a while.

Okami is a strong upper-middle 185 pound fighter. There is no reason he should've been cut, unless it was a contract renegotiation issue. This is actually more confusing to me than Fitch. Say what you want about Fitch, but he was 1-2-1 in his last four fights at the time of his release, Okami is 3-1.

I don't get this. Televisions come with remote controls, you can always change the channel or fast forward if it's a recording.

Probably One FC or Road FC might be good for him also.

I hate to break it to you but as long as you watch UFC or MMA in general you'll be seeing lots of it.

Yes, but the company is making a clear statement in recent years that this kind of crap will not be tolerated. The UFC is finally doing something about this bullshit, and showing that if you want to play that cage hugging/dry humping game then you better never, ever lose a single fight.

No one wants to watch that garbage, it's not fighting. Excellent cut.

Top 10 fighters should never be released. WTF. Hopefully Okami requested it or some shit. He's 3-1 his last 4 and one of the winningest MWs the UFC has.

Damn thought this was a joke earlier today. Kind of a head scratcher if you ask me. Makes the UFC look less legitimate as far as being a true sport

Good, It's a message to 1 dimensional lay-and-pray grapplers. Okami was a Gatekeeper, and probably would've continued to stunt the Middleweight division's growth, UNDER THIS RULE-SET THAT CATERS TO LAY-AND-PRAY SPECIALISTS!! Get all of them out of here.

This'll be good for him. He clearly hasn't been the same since the Silva fight. Some time somewhere else will do him some good.

I'm not saying MMA is a legitimate sport.
