UFC On ESPN 12: Poirier vs. Hooker

I have to be missing something with the Perry Vs Hall match up.

I don't really see Gall having any success in getting this to the ground and his striking threat is non existent.

Perry isn't on the best of runs but he's generally fought a much higher level of competition than Gall has faced - the two step ups Gall has been lined up to face (Condit and Brazilian Cowboy) I think would have been a big step up and Gall a big underdog.

Should be an utter mismatch on the feet, both in technique and power. I'd be surprised if this ends any way other than a round 1 or round 2 brutal KO Perry win.

Mmm i think poirier 100% wins if it gets to a dec, no way hooker wins a dec. However, i think dustin finishing hooker late is way more likely. If hooker wins, it's cause he put dustin away.

If i play dan, i'll go with his ko line actually. Poirier won't last long if he's hurt.

Wins over Iaquinta and Vick mean little to me. Both average in their own ways

This is a huge step up to fighting a legitimate top 5 guy. Memory serves Felder could have got the nod too? Passing on a bet but Poirer is my pick to win

Hooker also should have lost to Felder his last time out imo.

Is he good? Yeah. Poirier's level? No imo, he's not.

That said, I do think Hooker has the power to put Dustin away if he lands clean. I think Dustin's chin is...okay, but not on someone like Felder's level. So Hooker KO might be an okay hedge (depending on odds of course) to those playing Dustin's ML. But I can't see Hooker winning 3 rounds if it goes the distance.

This is where my heads at. I don’t see Hooker finishing Gaethje like Dustin did. That’s a legit win and looking back was underrated.

I’d still pick Poitier in a rematch against Gaethje and I don’t see how Hooker can present Dustin anything he hasn’t seen before.

Hookers cardio is trash. He got finished by body strikes from Barboza. He was arguably gifted a dec over Paul Felder.

My prediction is Poirier 3rd round TKO.

Anyone have any thoughts (legit thoughts) on Zalal vs Griffin? Zalal has the ability to be very good but his level of competition is shit. He seems like he can mix in TDs and has very crisp striking.

Griffin hasnt really beaten anyone either but he has fought some of the better fights, (Archuleta and Ige stand out to me).

Griffin also makes fucked up decisions in the octagon and I could see Youssef just out pointing him all day
