News UFC On ESPN 10 Fighter pay

I am definitely smiling...

People on here like "They get paid more than me!!" Need to realize flipping burgers or working at a call center isn't a talent. Most people who work those jobs get paid more than they would in most countries. These are supposed to be world class athletes and they are getting paid like managers at target

It is sad to see how little they get paid in contrast to how much UFC makes. Just because you are a no name in the NFL doesn’t mean you get paid 10k
While i think you have a fair point there, in the NFL or other league sports those no names still get exposure and play along the big names/teams, i have two friends at work that like the UFC, they rarely watch full cards, and i mean main cards...im SURE they didnt tune in for saturday's card at all.

No names in the NFL aren't any more popular than No names in the UFC. I don't see what you're getting at here?

lol at comparing 22 seconds to 3 hours

Anywho at 12K/12K three times a year win all three fights now your at 72K way better than most people earn in a year and they get to do a job they actually like.

I wish my job paid for my gas, oil changes and general maintenance on my car..

I am being underpaid!!!
12k in the U.S. is a medical bill and they're, literally, in the business of hurt. Most injuries and concussions come from training. If you don't win just one of those fights, it's significantly less pay. And fights don't last 30 seconds, they can go for 15 minutes and be devastating. From whatever job you do, you don't have to pay 10% to a manager, hire a full time coach to train you at it, and manage his travels. And just because you like something doesn't mean it's easy. You can take the most obsessed fighter and offer them a much stable, better paying job and they'd never sniff a mat again.

To add to it, UFC's investors are in show buisness. They're promoters. And yet you never see UFC fighters on these weekly talk shows, like Conan and Kimmy Jimble, unless they're Conor or headlining MSG. Even poor Nate had to sit through Conor's video message. Yet they all benefit from the money made and don't give anything back. Don't even bother to help. Will interview some Z-grade celebrity and have a band segment that nobody watches instead of helping themselves make more money from UFC.

The problem will always be the size of the roster 600 some odd fighters with only i dunno 10% being elite. They need to cut that roster in half and use that money to pay the top fighters better.

Should be top 20 fighters in the UFC only they really do need a legit feeder league. imo

They should do what Strikeforce did with the challenger series.

Fuck DWTNCS and have UFC Challenger Series, and like you said, send half the roster down there

I agree with this whole heartily. The greatest promoter in the world Dana White doesn't like competition though, so he holds on to fighters just to deprive other Orgs.

This wouldn't help those fighters get paid more. It's not about fighters developing, its about them getting paid shit just so the UFC doesn't risk them becoming stars elsewhere. That's why Greg Hardy was instantly signed by them, and the reason Dana won't let Anderson Silva go fight somewhere else despite the UFC admitting having no plans for him

Christ on a cracker, they paid those two chicks 50K to show? That is INSANE

I deleted my initail posts was just having a bit of fun but only serious business on Sherdog! I agree with everything you said.

Dana keeps the 12K guys/girls around to make it seem that the higher paid fighters are getting paid that much more.

Challenger guys can make 5/5, if you're a newcomer and have losses on the record you fight for the reebok kit you're wearing

Boxers just starting make like $2,000 per fight. You have to work your way up to good pay like any other professio. Not every douche/douchette who wants to be a fighter can get millions right off. Millennials can eat shit.

I have said for quite some time on here that they need to break it up into tiers like UFC Europe and UFC Asia with UFC North America being the main league. knowing the other two will pay less but the goal would be to work your way up and get a pay increase. Win three you move up lose three you go back down. at least that way you still have a job in the end.

Lol. Total disclosed purses: 782k + 4 FOTN bonuses = 982k disclosed. Just the purse of Stipe and DC combined (1.25m) is more than everyone on this card combined including bonuses lol.

1 PPV buy = $65. PPV buys needed to cover salaries for this card: 15,000

Average number of PPV buys per event: 447,000

"In 2018, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) staged a total of 39 events. However, after a considerable drop in Pay-Per-View buy rates in 2017, the average number of Pay-Per-View buys recovered to approximately 447 thousand per event in 2018."

Jesus, there are still people makin 12k to fight?
No, they're losing money to fight.

So 12K for 4 months (if they fight 3x/year) is like $18.75/hr. Before you pay income taxes, federal self-employment tax, gym fees, training fees, necessary equipment and everything else that goes with being an independent contractor in "The Big Leagues", they must be losing money. God help anyone with a kid in that situation. While Dana Fucking White and his multi-multi-millionaire investors take them all the way to the bank. Total sleazeballs.
