News UFC On ESPN 10 Fighter pay

Would I like to see fighters earning more than this? Sure. Do I feel bad for them? No, not really. These people agree to these numbers by signing a contract. You can't really then complain about it when you decide you are suddenly worth more. I don't know what else to say. Fulfilled your contract? Great, renegotiate. Not happy with the contract? Don't sign it. Talk to other organizations. No money there either? Don't fight. Pursue a different career. It is what it is. And anyone who gets into MMA these days should know damn well what to expect for pay.

Hey it went up from 10 to 12, who knows, maybe in 5 years they’ll get 15 !!

they don't train?

a martial artist would be training regardless of whether they are getting paid.
if they're just a prize fighter and dont actually love fighting, then yes they are working year round.
you are free if you want to be doing = what you have to be doing.
in other words, when duty & love are one and the same, you are free.
love is the fight game, duty is to make the money. when you get paid to fight, then love = duty.
when you think too much about the money, the fight game becomes more of a duty then the game you fell in love with.

what im saying is theyre not contractually obligated to show up to practice like in other sports.
they are free year round. they have complete control on what they should work on. They dont have to kill themselves in practice. They can have fun and experiment. if they decide to give that control to a coach then they are free to do so.

Yeah I just don't quite understand where this wave of liberal self entitlement is coming from. It's certainly not based on fact. Like you pointed out, boxers early in their careers make less than UFC fighters at the same level. For pros it's like 10 3min rounds, that's double the ring time compared to a UFC fighter. Main events are 12 rounds, which is 36min compared to UFC 25min max. Sheeple sensationalize boxers getting paid like canelo and Floyd. Wrong. Canelo and Floyd get paid like canelo and Floyd. And they are about as rare as Conor and GSP.
not really dillian whyte, joesph parker get paid around 2 million and their no conor or GSP.
