UFC needs to start a super HW division

If I wanted to watch beached whales struggle to move after 30 seconds I'd call your mom.

There just aren't too many athletic guys beyond 265 lbs, let's be serious. Most are just way overweight.

And those rare exceptions most likely wouldn't be fighting but playing a sport. 🤷🏻‍♂️

But I do agree that they should raise the limit somewhat. Say, ~280 lbs.

The heavyweight division is currently a threadbare circus show, where 90% of performers are hapless land whales who telegraph their punches and gas out after 2 minutes. A super heavyweight division would exclude the 10% worth watching.

I'd rather they made heavyweights reach and maintain a minimum level of fitness... mandatory beep tests or whatever. At least then I could watch the first round of a truly tedious heavyweight bout, and hope that the second round might not be even slower and shitter.

Far from being the glamour division like boxing, It actually traduces the reputation of the UFC to show most of these fat oafs lumbering around like angry tomatoes.
In boxing the heavyweight division is very shallow to

It’s not nearly as bad man. You still have dudes like Parker, bakole, usyk (tho he’s retiring soon), zhang, Joshua, Fury, Dubois, Hrgovic

These are all guys with some semblance of boxing skills

Maybe if they match NFL contracts they could do that

What a singularly stupid idea. Worse than the "195 pound division" concept.

Half of these guys are over 35 years old. Zhilei Zhang is 41 and still one the best in the division, and is a one dimensional boxer who relies alot in is heavy hands

Is quite normal in combat sports tha extreme weight divisions to be a little bit shallow. Either the heaviest ones or the lightest, for obvious reasons the deepest are more likely to be in the middle weights

Touche. Still, at least a couple of those guys… on an off night they get lucky with something and beat Usyk. It’s unlikely, but it could happen

Aspinall on the other hand, besides Jones and Gane is there anyone who you would even say there’s a 10% chance?

But broadly speaking you’re right it’s dead in boxing too.

Who wins open weight ? That´s right. HW >

Are you high or just autistic?

Cormier couldn't capture the LHW belt, but could at heavyweight. He wrestled as a 5th year senior in college at 189lbs. Cormier ran ROUGHSHOD over the heavyweight division in Strikeforce and the UFC, because occasionally an elite athlete trips and falls into heavyweight MMA.

Jones took 3 years off and casually tapped out a top 5 heavyweight without breaking a sweat.

I would pick multiple middleweights to beat the absolute dogshit out of heavyweights ranked below #5, it would be an embarrassment.

Heavyweight isn't just low skill, its also full of low caliber old fat dudes.

It's unfair that naturally big athletes like Tai Tuivasa have to starve themselves to make 265. Tuivasa walks around 310 so that's a huge cut.
Yeah but who would he fight? Eddie Hall? Mark Hunt? Butterbean? I'll pass.

They should just increase HW to 285 lbs. Not sure why the HW limit in the UFC should be below the HW limit for High School wrestling?

Lol Jon is a giant and DC is a 250 pound Grizzly. Why are you so small ? Please grow up :

1 gallon of milk
2 chicken breast
3x a week steak
20 eggs a week
Veggies + fruit daily
No processed oils just butter and cold pressed oils
Lift weights at least 4x a week focusing on free weight compound movements

Small people like you disgust me

This. Outside the top five HW is a slow, out of breath mess. If anything they should lower the weight limit to 230 to trim the fat.
Unless the pay increases by a factor of 10, then yeah, no more new weight classes, especially at the most heaviest weight. Money drives competition, and the money isn't strong enough to attract athletic, heavy beasts.

The sumo guys couldn't even win at the earliest UFC events. Paul Varelens went 9-9 back in the mid-90s. Do you really think freak show Super HWs would do better now?

No they don’t lol, no they don’t.

I don't think this will ever happen, but here was one of the better Super HWs, Andre Roberts. This was back when HWs truly fought, too....no point fighting.

They just need to remove the 265 pound limit. Heavyweight is laughably weak as a division. Just remove the stupid weight cap and let everyone over 205 pounds fight in the same division.
