Rumored UFC Mexico City to be moved due to security risks

If attacked.. Good excuse for trump to invade Mexico. šŸ˜‚

Love their president she started a cool after school boxing program for kids.

Hope they don't cancel. Would love to go to a UFC event in Mexico.

Mexico is no joke. Really not for amateurs.

I bet they would target an UFC event though, it has nothing to do with it. This cartel shit is like here in Brazil. More about vengeance against other factions or police.

No gains for them going for an international event like this.
CJNG Cartel dont really operate in Mexico city, their thing is in other states.

b-b-b-but mexicans are good and hardworking people

It would be interesting to see what happens if a bunch of fighters who trained to fight at Mexico City elevation end up fighting at the Apex instead. Imagine everyone on the card turning into Merab . . .
Lived there for a few years (business)and felt like I had endless cardio when I’d be in beach towns. It was wild.
It would be a huge headache on so many levels to relocate, but who knows, the security situation could deteriorate rapidly maybe even in Mexico City. But I'm thinking that's unlikely to happen as the key to the cartels' power is being allied with or even being in control of regional and local governments. In Mexico City that's not the case, as far as I know, and as well the Mexican Armed Forces headquarters are all in Mexico City. Let's see what happens.
This is from living there (DF) 2007-11 so can’t speak for it now; but yeah, definitely a larger police and noticeable army presence than other parts of the country.
That said, I moved back to the states when things started to get bad all over.
if I remember right, there was notable cartel violence in a lot of ā€œnew places;ā€ DF being one of them.
Gotta believe that it could definitely happen again.

True; but like 15 years ago, remember they were fighting in places like Monterey, Merida, and other cities that hadn’t typically been hotspots for cartel violence.

That's begging an open invitation for the Cartels to "make a statement".

Yeh, I don't think attacking an event that like the UFC is the sort of "statement" they would want to make lol.

They're not going to attack a place where a shit ton of local mexicans are like that. In Guadalajara they were warning the locals to get off the streets by a certain time.

The blowback on them for attacking an event like this would be absolutely brutal. They're not looking for that sort of smoke.

I mean it might be a good idea to move it, just in case. It's so soon since all this shit started going down

Could you please elaborate? I live in Guadalajara, Jalisco, basically the hometown of this cartel, he was killed about 2hrs from here, yesterday there were a LOT of incidents, but its not like cartel bombs arenas, they set buses and cars on fire, set convenience stores like 7Eleven on fire, not bombing arenas...also another thing...they are not targeting CDMX (Mexico City), which is 8hrs away from here.

Its facts, i live in the city with the incidents, its cartel hometown basically.

Its not, but its also not "randomly unsafe" like the US, we have our type of violence.

Would watch. 100%.
First off, respect for keeping a relatively cool head as it seems like.

I’m not a Mexican citizen so regarding the intricacies of how and where the cartel will retaliate realistically your assumption would be more accurate than mine.

However, even though CDMX would probably be fine, (false) information is being spread about Mexico being generally unsafe right now so I assume event organizers would rather not take the ā€œriskā€.

probably bias because they have tickets to the event
Its in fact 8 hours drive + cartel which is behind all this mess have reportedly no power in main city as other cartels operate there.
