News UFC Legitimately Dying

Well, that's not entirely true. This sport now has a major market, it's not exactly the fringe underground sport it was fifteen years ago. So, if UFC were to go under, another promotion (or promotions) would sign the worlds top fighters. If it were multiple promotions, they would then have a war to the finish of who is the number one promotion, like the UFC did with PRIDE.

I generally distrust NY Post though, so we'll see what comes of this.
If UFC fighters were to move to other promotions .... Like all 5 of them. Then I don't think they would get the same attention they get today . Only the hard core fans would stay tuned. Eventually these other promotions would follow same path as UFC and eventually no one would want to train and want to be in MMA.

Ufc is not dying but its loosing credibility fast and it's turning into a complete shitshow where you get awarded or moved up the ladder because how many followers you have, how pretty, eloquent shittalker etc etc they're protecting their cash cows with shady matchmaking and dubious judging decision.

Definitely not the same no holds barred from back in day or even 10 years ago.
Still acceptable but if it gets worse, I'm out as a fan.
I'll stick to watch muay thai, glory etc

The Emanuel brothers run Hollywood and they love sitting cage side watching the goyem beat each other senseless for peanuts lol they won't be going anywhere

Amazing when someone understands.

We have 2 adult softball leagues, Men's and Co-ed. I fully enjoy the co-ed, everyone laughs and it's light hearted competition. The men have to bat from their weak side and 4 women have to be on field. It's fun, everyone laughs and gets along just fine.
Then the men's league, much less laughing, much more competition and the pace of the game is 5xs faster. The women would get hurt, they aren't allowed to play in that league because we don't want to have to tone it down to accommodate them.
There is Invictia, no one watches it because it's slower and not as exciting.

Yes sir.

Men need men to sharpen up. Imagine how weak men would become if we didn't have other men talking shit to us to keep us in line. Iron sharpens iron.

Ever since I woke up to the fat, retarded, ugly sister of the beautiful woman I went to bed with, the sport hasn’t been the same.

UFC died at UFC 12, when it was no longer Ultimate Fighting, thats when all the weight classes and rules came in, it was no longer Ultimate Fighting after that and not what the entire point of the sport is.

After UFC 12 its just a fight show that befits MTV, and I watch it for entertainment, but don't have the care/investment that I used too have in it. Once the WMMA came that was the final nail in the coffin

did anyone read the article?

looks like wme/img needed cash to appease some of its celebrity investors. ufc is one of their major earners and they are using the money it has and is paying it back to those investors. if anything, this just shows wme/img is super high on the ufc, by allowing it to have so little money on hand.

dana white and ceo of wme/img ari were given 3 million each. company isnt going anywhere. they needed cash and took it from the ufc.

look for weaker cards coming up tho.

wheres frankienyc when u need him!?

RIP :-(

I believe they needed to pay off investors so they wouldn't sell off there stocks.

Apparently they tried to bring in more investors in September, and didn't really attract anyone, and now they had to buy pay off their current investors in order to retain their stocks in the company.

the article actually says that the UFC is doing well (mostly because it’s labor force work for peanuts vs other pro sports)

the issue, according to the article, is that WME is pulling a lot of cash out of the UFC because of its own issues thereby leaving the UFC short of funds to invest in expansion

You guys are idiots, they are draining their cash so they can say, look how broke we are, we cant afford to pay fighters more

Did you read the article?
Did YOU read the article? It is from a financial perspective, not a fight expert. He thinks Bellator is competition, lol. He also does not fully grasp that fighting isnt a team league like MLB or NFL. His explanation shows that.

What he does talk about is how much debt they took on, how long it has been since a dividend to investors, and how the failed WME ipo has required them to lean on the UFC to fund the rest of the company.

So in fact, not only is the UFC not dying, but is in fact being leaned on by the entire WME ING enterprise. The $50mm he referenced in the article is hardly insufficient, not to mention that ESPN money likely comes in tranches.

Combat Sports will become super niche

it is just a matter of time

ejoy it as Long as yo can

This article is most likely false

According to a survey conducted by Pace University in 2004, the Post was rated the least-credible major news outlet in New York, and the only news outlet to receive more responses calling it "not credible" than credible (44% not credible to 39% credible)—http://appserv.pace.edu/emplibrary/pace_poll_061604.pdf
So I wouldn't take stock on that, the Post is the most conservative paper in NY. The Times is fake news central, but they have the right narrative. The bigger issue with the Post is that they tend to focus on splashy or grotesque stories that make them sound a bit like a tabloid.

NY Times: "The Story of Brave Palestinian Transexual Female Hamas Members."

NY Post: "Retired schoolteacher arrested with chicken porn."

Newsday: "Meet Suffolk County's Most Famous Insect." (Pointless local Long Island news).
