Sadly yes . They dont plan longterm and mistreat talent. it bites them in the ass with now mostly generic medium quality fighters. I dont fault the fighters when they have to fight for survival financially even being top50 that quite some quit mma. You simply loose a lot of talent that way and they dont get built up by the promotion with dedicated storylines, showing them investing in them.Building up fighters costs money and time. Dana’s lazy ass would rather take the easy route of underpaying them to keep them in line.
He wants them all obedient.
Francis NGannou beat Dana at every level.
Does anyone remember the Pride pre fight videos about the fighters? They were incredible well done and you just wanted to learn more about him and watch his fights.
I talked with an ex UFC fighter from my country and he earned a good salary with the UFC (fight of the night once) but the moment he wanted to negotiate they threatened immideatly with killing his career. If you dont have a name you get a slave contract giving away all your ip rights etc. If you have sucess they still control you by not renegotiating your longterm deal they can terminate at every second. Even as a main eventer its not guaranteed at all to walk home with +100 000k before taxes / year (thats been some years).
After taxes, coaches, cost, health , nutrition..etc. They get by but its near impossible to save money.
He then changed careers
