UFC Fight Night: Covington v Woodley

If you don't think Dern is a problem against anyone not in the Top 5, you aren't paying attention. Seeing her jiu-jitsu is literally watching a living, breathing work of art, and she is committed to keep improving the stand-up. Would love to see Ribas in a year get the title, and then see the rematch in a couple years.

If damian maia lays on his back on the ground and usman or woodley dives in, there's a good chance he can get the finish. But opponents aren't stupid and don't willingly go into the ground with him (askren did and got smoked). I'm still not impressed with Dern, she was struggling vs cifers in standup until cifers willingly went to ground with her. Likewise, Dern literally slips and is laying there and markos on her own willingly dived into her guard!! We already know she can submit girls, we've still not learned anything new about her and the only reason she is a problem is due to facing 10iq fighters.

The folks that were picking Markos likely just glanced over both ladies records and had not actually watched their previous UFC fights and were not aware of their respective backgrounds. Dern always reverts back to her BJJ and is very slick on the ground, but her striking would not be competitive against a top 10 fighter and she has a low fight iq.

With her BJJ alone she could hypothetically fight for the belt next fight and would not be much of an underdog. The UFC though is using the womens strawweight division as a promotional vehicle into the Chinese market, they want Weili Zhang to remain champion, so don't expect Dern to get another fight for 4-5 months.

There was nothing accidental about her slip, she's used that before, it was weird seeing her lie about it; but it got her a win and bonus so mission accomplished.

I put an oddsbooster bet on betonline: Cerrone + Chimaev + Covington to win +320. Shouldnt this be paid out with reduced odds? They cancelled the bet now kinda lame.
 
Sub lines were huge this event on guys with massive amount of sub-wins.
x10 damon jackson who had 3 TKO, 1 dec, 13 subs
x6.5 Minner with 1 TKO, 2 dec and 21 subs

and then you have dern who usually get a sub (0 ko, 3 dec, 6 sub) coming in around x2.3 iirc (ML around 1.55?)

Not sure why prize is so bad for dern sub.
