UFC "best boxer" hilarity

You do realize that most are speaking of boxing in comparison to other MMA fighters and relative to MMA as a hole.
I am aware of that. Guys like Katar/Yan CLEARLY don't display elite boxing for MMA standards though. Yan is strictly MT style. His boxing is pretty funny TBH.
This. People mention these names when debating the best boxers in mma, which are all fair contenders for that. I don't think anybody actually means elite boxers, as on the same level as elite actual boxers.
I'm well aware that they are between MMA fighters... FFS

It is nearly always qualified as “best boxer IN MMA.”

It’s a low bar since a vast majority of elite boxers have spent so much time strictly boxing that entering a sport that includes kicks, elbows, knees, wrestling, grappling and submissions is non-sensical.

There are exceptions for sure.

People just copy the shit Rogan and the others say.
Talking up your sparring partner as a boxing world champion is just common.
Andre Ward - Diaz brothers

They are solid sparring partners.
- No power - good for boxer's health
- Good cardio - lots of repetitions
- Good chin - good punching bag

shit thread, this is like saying GSP’s MMA wrestling wasn’t good wrestling because if he got denied once or someone got up. MMA Boxing is about its effect on winning. Yeah Diaz bros take damage but their boxing set up their BJJ, in Nicks case it made him a world champion and in Nate’s he got an underdog win on McGregor who was easily the most feared striker at the time who immediately turned into a panic wrestler after being stunned. Nate’s boxing has rocked Leon Edwards the current WW champ and lead to a victory over Tony. Y’all have this obsession with perfection in MMA and it’s cringey af. UFC has brainwashed a lot of you to be this way because they have a revolving door of fighters and if you’re not undefeated you basically get pushed back to the end of the line.
tbh every second that mcgregor & diaz have been in the cage together and mcgregor wasn’t dead tired, he was fucking nate up badly. diaz’s advantage in those fights was durability and cardio, which is valuable, but really the last intangible you want to find out about in a boxer. if you know a guy is durable and in shape, it’s because he gets hit a shitload and doesn’t have power.

As far as accomplishments, Holy Holm is one of the best boxers in MMA. Having good hands in MMA doesn't always translate to boxing and vice versa.

I agree but in context, you could put Floyd in there with someone like fucking Bryan Barberena and he'd start looking like Chris Leben after one takedown and some GNP. He'd be in streets mode/survival mode.

Two entirely different sports. The top "MMA boxers" would be humiliated in boxing and most top boxers would start second guessing themselves and going brawl style if the threat of a ground fight is present.

They're elite boxers for MMA standards, not boxing standards. It's very difficult to get away with highlighting pure boxing in an MMA fight anyway considering the holes in boxing guards, defense, hand positioning and footwork has in a freestyle rules fight, we've seen plenty of high level K1 strikers get outworked by fighters with no real pedigree in striking, the same thing would happen if we saw pure boxers move across, it just makes no sense for financially so we're never going to see it, we've had a few freak show crossovers and that's it.

That's like saying who the best basketball player in the nfl is based on their performance in football games ...
