UFC 306 felt more like a cinema night than an actual fight night.
The movies that Dana White was banging on about during press conferences almost took away from the actual fights. Instead of being immersed in the action, it seemed like people were more drawn to the things around them and less attention was on the fight itself.
Don’t get me wrong the movies and visual effects were insane but like Dana said himself. He was more concerned about the event being nominated for an Oscar and Grammy than the fights. Both the main card and co-main were lacklustre and killed the whole momentum.
The Sphere arena in general looked really good but as a hardcore fight fan, we care more about the quality of the fight than a giant hologram of each fighter appearing before they walk out. I feel like with the money invested in the Sphere Dana could have got more ranked fighters on the card even if they weren’t Mexican.
