Vera is very underrated. He was also a huge underdog vs Yadong. I would favour Yadong vs O'malley at this moment to be honest. It is also good to see that Vera can handle extremely fast handed strikers like Yadong and arguably win that fight. The odds are nuts.

While I probably won't bet JDS I cannot bet against him either. Dude only ever lost against the best of the best.
He often looked slow and done, but yet he always came out on top against his not elite opponents.
Reminds me of Glover Teixeira in that way.

Rewatching the first DC/Stipe fight yesterday, I am not so confident Stipe gets the win. At least I'm not as confident as I was a few days ago. Cormier was catching Stipe a fair amount and he got the takedown/slam in the first round. Cormier was effective those first two rounds and I am sure he buzzed Stipe in those rounds a couple times. I suppose it depends if Stipe is effective with the bodywork early on or not.
You've got to think DC is going to be trying to negate that tactic by using his wrestling early on and maybe going for the ground and pound. I honestly have no idea how DC goes about this fight. Stipe, you would think, is going to go to the body early and often. It is up to DC to stop that. I think DC could catch Stipe if Stipe goes to the body. There will be openings for DC to tag that jaw.

The whole time I was watching the first fight I'm just thinking "damn, Stipe's fighting way too scared, if he actually just pours it on he'll win". And he did. I think he learned lessons from both fights, and IIRC he recognized his own timidity in the post fight. DC's obviously dangerous especially when it's early, but I don't see how Stipe shouldn't have a big advantage. DC likely has to win this on the feet and that probably means another KO or bust for him.

Does Herrig ever really defend takdowns that aren't hip tosses?
Does any wmma fighter get takedowns that aren't hip tosses? Seems to be all they can do still. Not many are shooting explosive doubles

Haha man IDK. I actually went 2-0 as a pro before I blew my knee out. Had pretty good success in grappling tournaments too. But @lefontes ...maybe it's the Brazilian thing. Old school vale tudo and shit. But I think I'd avoid conflict with that dude if possible.
Maybe I'm way off. To be fair, I'm old and soft now.

I'm on Stipe. I think what the last fight showed was that one guy is young and durable enough to overcome some tough spots and the other guy isn't.
That's not a knock on DC. He's an all time great and at his best maybe better than the best version of Stipe. But...at even odds I'm backing the younger guy who showed he can still overcome adversity. Wouldn't shock me if DC won of course, but I do think Stipe gets it done.
