UFC 252: Miocic vs. Cormier 3 Discussion

Tbf someone said something like this about Matt Mitrione not taking Timothy Johnson seriously in last week's Bellator thread and they ended up being correct (Mitrione usually comes in at 250ish, last fight he came in 265+)

Of course it's possible that these people heard wrong or are lying, but they seem to be right more often than not
that guy said mitrione lives in the same college town as him, shitty mma camp and shitty training partners.

Alright bois i have gone deep into this one since my state is in stage 4 lockdown and I'm housebound for 6 weeks.

Yoder V Souza:
Watched the last 5 fights from Yoder, last 6 for Souza. Half way through the Yoder tape I am thinking to my self what did ol'mate @Sadistics see to trust Yoder with a huge play. Near the end of taping I started to see some improvement. Kondo fight I ignored she shouldn't be in UFC, but I strongly believe she should have won the Markos fight. Markos is underated, always has been. Then I got into Souza tape. I was even less impressed. These are my takeaways for both.

Yoder has a mean left down the pipe from her southpaw stance. She has a big reach and its her most eye catching shot when she gets aggressive and lands clean. Dropped Dern with it. She has no head-movement though and stands upright eating punches all day long. I believe thats what lost her the Markos fight. Her strength seems to lie in the clinch, and she has improved her top quite a bit. Used to scramble and give up top position all the time for weak positions that led to nothing. Mixes up shots and clinch throws.

Souza is very small for the weight class, cuts no weigh. Horrible gas tank, seems to slow down by second round and then has a horrible habit of backing up against cage and covering up and eating shots. She also pulls guard for a guillotine that hasn't worked on anyone in the 6 fights I watched. She has a nice level change shot that gets everyone down, and I don't think Yoder will be able to stop this either as she stands too upright. This same shot becomes super telegraphed and sloppy and much easier to defend once gassed. In the standup she pretty much just wings overhand rights. Souza has decent jits, but its nothing crazy. I am not worried about her subbing Yoder.

The advantages for Yoder seem to be the reach, size, gastank and maybe even IQ lol. If this fight stays mostly in clinch, I think Yoder can gas Souza out, but I still see it as a sweat. I do have 2u on it so fk it we let it roll.

are u trying to get better odds on souza? where is your source? whop said when and where? if you don't go into further details then better shut up

Rio is a dumpster and I'm not interested to visit but thanks for the invitation.

You are one of the worst posters here you better watch out you don't go broke if you already aren't idk in which favela you living in so probably the latter.

Where is this Danny Chavez tape where people are betting him down to a slight dog?

who is betting merab up to -230?

damn, I knew Vera rd 3 would get bet down quick, went from 20/1 to 15/1 and I think it'll probably go even lower

Yoder also spends a lot of time training with Hendo fwiw (in the past) so her clinch work should be.... There?

This looks like a tricky card for betting vs. my biases/perceptions. For example, JDS and Vera are no-brainer bets to me at these odds. However, I feel like both of them may get KO'd so I'm hesitant to pull the trigger even with value.

DC has more tools and his body of work in the 1st 2 fights vs Stipe tell me he "should" have an advantage here. I just can't get over Stipe's power advantage and my gut is telling me Stipe finishes DC in similar fashion to last fight.

Might just sit back and wait for live in play opportunities. Maybe a small play on Jim Miller. He'll fight for my money if nothing else.

Many of the men Chito had fought have weapons similar to Sugar Sean's. Yadong had comparable and even faster hands, equal accuracy and more power, I think Andre Ewell throws similar straight lefts, I think John Lineker is better at cutting off the cage.

How are any of the men who Sean has fought similar to Chito? I guess Terrion Ware is as Kratos level durable? Chito ate clean headshots and body shots from Lineker and had his best round in the 3rd. I think Sean head hunts way too often. He throws like 95% head strikes. Chitos guard specifically blocks head strikes. I think Chito is better at coralling with footwork and strikes, I think he's way meaner in the clinch and I think he's not very easily fooled by faints and if he is hes usually blocking punches he thinks are headed to his face anyway and lucky for him thats primarily what Sean throws. I think Seans defense is extremely exhausting and he might get worn down super easily.

I think Sean is a super fast starter and he appears ready to go with his weapons and reads almost immediately into a fight. We know Chito has been a notorious slow starter but against Ewell and Yadong (lol) he had to press the issue against similar fast starters or he would have fallen into a big deficit.

You should have replied like this.

I would typically be on Vera in this situation but man, O’Malley has looked like a different fighter since the overturned suspension.

with someone like chito who’s going to be more than willing to stand and bang with him we may see o malley get another knock out.

Rumor in here Brazil that Livinha is going to fight injured. If news i put here...

He has but....with asterisks imo. I think Seans confidence has been shaped by softer opponents and Chitos was forged in a furnace. Quinoa and Wineland barely put up a fight. The two dudes who kept going forward and didn't get put away made Sean look kinda bad. I'll have to see it but I don't think that's an issue that just goes away. I'm not sure Sean is gonna hit Chito any better than Yadong (LOL) did and Chito ate those like he was trying to get into the Salty Spitoon.
