I think the ideal game plan for him was to retire, go train in earnest while juicing to your heart's content. Get into the best shape of your life. Cycle off said drugs, and then announce return fight with nothing left in your system to be penalized for.

Sonnen's suspension ends July 23rd.

Also worth noting, he weighed in at 230lbs in his grappling match with Bisping last month. Suffice to say he's not in any kind of fight shape.

Chael repeatedly denies he is ever coming back, despite his manager saying the door is open. I think it is possible Sonnen would take a big one-off money fight against a marquee legacy opponent.

At his age, weight and in the USADA era I don't see Sonnen being competitive with elite fighters. Not anymore. Would he fire up and bring the circus to town if the money was right? I could see that.

Of course, who knows if NSAC would grant him a license.
