This explains everything

I have no reason to dislike Woodley, look forward to his fights and will pay for his ppv’s

Tyron can't expect to become popular when most of the things he says are about "building his brand" with money fights, or just talking about race. Not to mention that his fights don't get anyone excited.

He's a great fighter, but his style doesn't attract fans, that's just the way it is. The fact that he keeps complaining about not being popular just makes people roll their eyes at the mention of his name, and makes their dislike towards him grow.
I think you're right.

Woodley is actually a genuinely good guy. He'd be a great neighbour I reckon. I think he says dumb stuff, and not just about race. He called Condit a 'point fighter' for example. That's unfortunate. It's also unfortunate that every conversation about Woodley comes back to race.

His last few fights have been long and boooooooring. When he's on, he's on. But those were probably some of his most-watched fights so the impression that he's a boring, timid fighter is probably cemented in the minds of many people now.

I can understand where Din is coming from tbf; but personally I don't dislike the man, I just don't enjoy watching him fight and therefore don't want him to win.

Has he ever had an entertaining fight, ever? Maybe the Condit one was ok.

He should do what he needs to do to win, but he shouldn't expect that style of fighting to make him popular.

Strikeforce Tyron >>>>>>> UFC Tyrone

It all ties back to Conor and his fans... Lol.

you guys are such crybaby bitches holy shit. always creating these false narratives and then crying about them even though they don't exist.

lots of people don't like woodley. the people that are probably racist are the ones who don't like woodley because he's talked about race. if you don't like woodley for his fights, great. if you don't like his commentating, also great. if you don't like him because he's arrogant, also great (though you better not then compliment white fighters for being "confident" because that'd be a double standard)

but if you're going to come into threads about him and constantly bring up the times he's talked about race (which, BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF, is not that much. the last article was january of last year where he even mentioned it. it's you sensitive bitch boys that keep bringing it up that are keeping it alive) then you probably have some figuring out to do about which side of history you wanna be on
Just saying he makes everything about race. The UFC gave him a title shot after a split decision win over Gastelum followed by 18 months of inactivity. Then he says he's the "worst treated champion in the history of the UFC" because they made him fight the #1 contender instead of somebody that hadn't fought in 4 years. He also talks like he's been in the sport for so long and was saying Wonderboy hadn't paid his dues and put in his time meanwhile Wonderboy made his mma debut just one year later than Woodley, had been in the UFC for a year longer than Woodley and was on a 7 fight win streak. In other words it's how delusional he is combined with his boring fighting style that I don't like. I keep thinking he doesn't believe any of the dumb shit he says and is just trolling to piss people off but I'm not sure. For the record he said similar things about Condit and talked like Condit hasn't been fighting long enough meanwhile he's been in the sport way longer than Woodley lol.

He has a point but the biggest problem i have and everyone seems to have is he might play the race card too much. He blames him not getting money fight on race when we all can see clear as day why he would not be given such fights. What really getss me is him wanting deserving contender, yet does not want to give rda his deserved shot.

People loved Obama. Enough with this everybody's racist bullshit.

The man never had these problems when he was a contender, he did fine in his fights and fine with the fans. Seem's a bit of entitlement came his way after that strap wrapped around his waist. Coupled with boring & disappointing fights...

I really like tyron but he is a fucking annpying cunt. Just stop begging for money fights. Show people why you deserve one. Finish a contender then like you finished lawler or atleast make it an entertaining fight like wonderboy 1 then you can clamour for a money fight. Don't beg. You look desperate. Be yourself. Speak the truth. Dont complain like a moron. You come across to be bery sissy when you complain like a bitch. Heal up and fight rda or till if he beata wonderboy.

ok but him saying thompson hasn't paid his dues or anything about condit have nothing to do with your claim that he "always brings up race." even when he was questioning why he was poorly treated (and you dont see what happens behind the scenes, dont just go off twitter reaction) he only mentioned race as a potential reason. people took that and ran with it and have since decided to freak the fuck out and mention race cards/race baiting any time his name is mentioned - which is ironic af.

i'm just telling you he barely ever does. it's just sherdoggers that can't let go of the fact that he did a few times, the most recent time being over a year ago. i don't like watching him fight but he doesn't bring up race anywhere near as much as people try and make it seem

kind of hard to feel like a poorly treated champion when you aren't the champion yet, no?

Where to even begin. It's all stupid. But his nugget:
"But Jon Jones can’t because he’s a drug addict and steroids and he’s running pregnant ladies over, so he comes off as human. He has problems and people can relate to that.”

Lmao. I've had my fair share of problems, being a drug addict, steroid cheat and running pregnant ladies over was never one of them. And hardly what people relate with 'human'.
Jesus christ, Din Thomas is dumber than a bag of limp dicks.

Been a fan of Thomas for a while now and well... I have to agree with you. What Thomas has said is incredibly stupid overall, but I don't think it's 100% without merit.

Maybe I'm crazy, but Woodley could be a white guy, Asian guy, Hispanic, whatever, and it would be his attitude that still turns people away.. And that attitude combined with how Woodley cries about his treatment because of his race? Yeah, people really aren't going to like you.

I can't stand Ben Askren.. and not only does he share a similar skillset with Woodley, but he also shares that "I'm better than you" sort of attitude. Again, if Askren was crying about mistreatment because of his race or whatever, I think more people wouldn't like him.

Granted both these guys, Woodley and Askren, have kind of earned the right to that approach as they're both top-of-the-food-chain MMA athletes.

Here's where it may get confusing. I do think some people/fans bag on Woodley because of who he is and what he looks like and won't really give him a fair shake.

<Fedor23>

Sometimes I think he says some stupid shit in his interviews that kinda exacerbates how the general MMA fan sees him and certainly doesn't make it easier for closed minded fucks to accept him.

Know why people are more forgiving of a "drug addict, steroid cheat and running pregnant ladies over" Jon Jones, Din? (by no means am I saying anything Jones has done is okay or making light of anything) Jones' fighting style and skillset are much more appealing to MMA fans and would be MMA fans. If people hate Woodley because he's a black dude, people would hate Jones because he's a black dude. Jones has a killer instinct and the skillset to execute his opponents while Woodley has the skillset and potential to cause all sorts of chaos, but relies on the ole tried and true boring ass grapple dominance. I've been a fan of Woodley since I saw him in Strikeforce and had a feeling he'd be champion one day, but it's aggravating watching him grapplefuck when he has the power to knock heads off if he'd just pull the trigger.

If Woodley would talk and cry less and violently finish more, Dana would be kissing his ass and he'd have a shitton of fans.

And you can hate Woodley all you want, but if you consider yourself an MMA fan you have to recognize he is one of the best today doing it. Same goes for Askren.

Well said.
Just for the record, I do not hate Woodley. I find him a boring fighter and an even more more boring champ for those very reasons you mentioned, essentially 'not pulling the trigger' and in the most frustrating way not living up to his potential.

The whining is also grating, considering that he is gifted and privileged, like few.

Maybe it's not too late for him to turn things around, put on some great fights, win the fans over etc but it speaks volumes, that neither Nick Diaz nor GSP has shown the least bit of interest in fighting him. Nick Diaz outright said Woodley is too boring for him, and GSP deflected politely with usual waffle about legacy fights and only fighting fighters that 'elevate' him.

Sorry, don't know enough about Askren to have an opinion on him.

Don't hate him or anything, just feel like he's boring because he doesn't always try to finish fights. He is only concerned with winning, and that's not suppose to be what mma is about. He's more gsp point fighting than fighting.

Din didn't pin it solely or even mostly on race, so I am OK with that. Race obviously plays a role, even if it is subconscious and mostly benign.

No, you are the poison.

can't really read these threads and say "nothing" to do with race. people definitely have racially charged reasons for disliking him. that doesn't mean that there aren't also other reasons, but race does play a factor for some people, though probably not the larger number of casual fans that don't pay attention to what fighters say or do outside of the octagon.

UFC fans are full of racist....The Main demographic for the UFC, are Young White American Males.

Look at all the biggest fighters in the sport by era.

Conor, Ronda, GSP, Brock, Lidell, etc.

Anderson Silva, Rampage, and Jon Jones never were as big as they should...They were always #2 or below to a White fighter.

Jeez what a bunch of sickening pathetic bastards who can't get ahead in life and want to blame white people.

Race has absolutely nothing to do with why people don't like Tyrun, absolutely nothing.
It's because his fighting style is boring and he acts like an entitled c*nt and blames everyone and everything for his lack of popularity but himself.

Now stop watching "stories" and go out and get a job.
