Stories are linked but they happened a day and 100 miles apart? I've literally attended 2 hangings on the same Christmas day in the same part of a city. It's really not uncommon.

To a lot of people in this country once someone is homeless they're not a person anymore, regardless of race or gender or anything else. The quickest way to be seen as subhuman garbage is to be homeless that's why anyone that's been remotely close to homelessness lives in terror of it ever happening.

I only spent one night out in the snow in the dark with everything I own shoved into two bags trying to find a dry place to sleep. I still think about it sometimes, and the memory has been like a smelling salt certain times in my life when I needed to get it together but didn't know how.

Suicide rarely makes sense, if the person wasn't suffering from obvious depression. People who have everything going for them commit suicide daily. Anthony Bourdain hung himself. Chris Cornell hung himself. As for trees, look at the Japanese. There's a literal suicide forest over their, with folks of all stripes stringing themselves up quite regularly. As for the rope, I don't see what's so "convenient" about it. It's just a rope.

Not saying there couldn't be more to it, but there certainly doesn't have to be.

It's the oldest trope.in the world but plenty of deeply depressed people hide it well and you would never know. I have two friends like that. Or had. One killed himself a few years ago.

Some people go from seeming fine to crisis or gone overnight. I can be like that myself when my mental health takes a turn.

Could be something as glaring as a suicide note or friend called in they were worried about them with what they were saying.

Absolutely love the article. One blacktivist thinks everyone is getting lynched with absolutely zero evidence, and then they throw in a black dude who got ran over by some kids yelling white power, leave out one of the lynchings entirely. talk aboot the entire history of lynching, but not one shred of evidence any of these people were lynched except the family said so. The families are grieving and would rather assume they got killed than killed themselves, so that angle really is a no brainer as well.

Really wondering what potential additional info they have that would imply suicide that they can’t release or at least comment on. Can say they have a note without releasing its contents. Or like they could say they have CCTV or video evidence without releasing it. Maybe a HIpAA violation if being treated for mental illness or drugs?
