Television TV Show Thread

My wife wanted to watch Fool Me Once on Netflix. So I caved and watched it with her.

The storyline was decent and it was a fairly entertaining (but somewhat predictable) mini-series.

 
First Episode of the new True Detective, enjoyed it. Being Native American it's good to see us get some attention media-wise these days.
 
Tried but couldn't get past the halfway point of For All Mankind S1E1. Just didn't seem interesting. I'll probably try to resume later.
 
Finished up Reacher season 2. I would say about 6/10. It followed the book well enough, but I think it should have been a later season with having the rest of the special investigators introduced.
 
The Brothers Sun on Netflix. Action comedy drama about the Triads. Really liked the majority of the show. Action scenes were fun and most of the comedy stuff hit. The ending didn't sit as well with me, and it doesn't feel like a second season works the way it was ended, which is a shame because I would definitely watch.

I'm watching "Carol and the End of the World" on Netflix and it is riveting. I'm desperate to see how it ends.
 
True Detective season 1. So far this show isn't doing much for me. I'm only on episode three but both main characters are irritating. Does it get better?

If you don't like it 3 episodes in, you probably won't like it
 
Ted - 8/10

I enjoyed the Ted movies, the series surpasses those. The humor is so dumb and over the top but in a good way, I could see how the show could end up being annoying for some. The niece character doesn't fit the timeframe they are going for though.

Reacher S2 - 6.5

Couldn't decide on 6 or 7 so went in the middle, its so good at times but bringing in the team now felt too soon. Reacher being a tank of a human works because of how they built him up but this season was pretty much Reacher and friends. I've read some of the stories and this felt like something that should have been introduced later, Robert Patrick delivered as he usually does as well.
 
I didn't realize SNL was back from break. It's been a regular occurrence on Sunday mornings for my daughter and I to watch the night before's SNL clips on youtube together.

I haven't seen any of the clips from this weekend's show, but it seems bad.

I like that the author points out that the monologue Q&A are reserved for hosts that can't deliver a joke. But, I assumed that was for guests like athletes. Certainly a professional actor can act funny for a few minutes.

Man you guys mentioned some gems that I can kinda remember. Flash Forward. The Event. Falling Skies etc.

Back then good shows were hard to find and I was desperately looking for the new Lost/Prison Break/Heroes. I actually or hooked by some of he shows but everythig that was good got cancelled indeed.

Nowadays I bet there is good stuff out there somewhere but I can't be bothered discovering it with so much stuff out there now.

I didn’t watch them all but I saw one from last night that I liked where Elordi was an actor speaking to a bunch of struggling, aspiring acting school students. He was kind of stilted but I thought the setup for the sketch was funny. They are asking him about auditions and how he got his first break and dealing with rejection and he he has no context for it cause he never experienced it.

It works cause Yang, Mikey Day, Gardner, and Fineman, Dismukes and co. sell it (plus a good celebrity cameo I won’t spoil) but I found it funny that Elordi’s character didn’t have any shred of arrogance or unlikability- just could not relate to any of their struggles because he had an easy path.

His characterization reminded me of when Billy Campbell guested on Frasier as that radio physician who was superior to Frasier in every dimension.

Just started Ted last night and only watched the first episode, but it is hilarious!!!!! Looking forward to watching the rest over the next week or so. Thanks for the reco!
 
Billy the Kid - Season 2
Pretty much like season. Not great. Not bad. It's a good show to watch in the background while you work.
