Game of Thrones Prequel TALES OF DUNK AND EGG in the Works at HBO

Dm879aQ.jpg

Another Game of Thrones prequel is in the works at HBO. The premium cabler is in early development on Tales of Dunk and Egg, based on a set of novellas by George R.R. Martin. The stories are set about 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones and follow the exploits of Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and a young Aegon V Targaryen (Egg). No writer is attached to the project at the moment.

Fans of the franchise have clamored for a Dunk and Egg series since HBO first announced plans to develop spinoffs of its biggest series ever back in 2017. It was not, however, part of the first round of follow-ups HBO announced in 2017, and Martin himself said at the time that "we're not doing Dunk and Egg."

HBO has greenlit one prequel series, House of the Dragon, which comes from Martin and Ryan Condal. The series, slated for a 2022 premiere, is set about 300 years before Game of Thrones and will focus on the Targaryen dynasty.

A second prequel, from writer Jane Goldman and starring Naomi Watts, filmed a pilot in 2019 but was ultimately scrapped. "After careful consideration, we have decided not to move forward to series with the untitled Game of Thrones prequel," HBO said in an October 2019 statement. We thank Jane Goldman, [director] S.J. Clarkson, and the talented cast and crew for all of their hard work and dedication."

The three novellas in the Dunk and Egg series are 1998's The Hedge Knight, 2003's The Sworn Sword and 2010's The Mystery Knight. They were collected under the title A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms in 2015.

For those who have not read them, the they are really entertaining books, that actually have an ending!

People keep saying this. They aren't done yet. Each one is pretty self contained though with a bigger overall plot.
Honestly none of the dunk and egg stuff entertains me. When they talk about "fandom" is it just like 3 or 4 loud motherfuckers on Twitter?

First Clip from INVINCIBLE; Premieres on March 26, 2021 at Amazon Prime

INVINCIBLE is an Amazon Original series based on the groundbreaking comic book from Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead. The story revolves around 17-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), who’s just like every other guy his age — except his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). In this extended first clip, Mark chats with his father about his developing powers. Coming only to Prime Video on March 26.

Just finished futureman, I recommend it. It's like a long version of back to the future but funnier.

GAME OF THRONES Animated Series in Early Stages of Development at HBO Max

The next Game of Thrones chapter could be animated. An animated Game of Thrones drama is in the early stages of development at HBO Max, multiple sources tell THR. Meetings with writers for the adult-leaning project, which would be similar in tone to HBO's Emmy-winning flagship, are already under way. No deals have been made and there's still a possibility that the animated series never comes to fruition.

The animated idea is part of a larger strategy to expand the world of creator George R.R. Martin's fantasy drama. Sources say development executives at HBO — led by drama head Francesca Orsi and her group — are working directly with Martin on building out the sprawling Game of Thrones world. (Martin remains under a rich overall deal with the cabler.)

The franchise's expansion starts with HBO's House of the Dragon, the prequel that was picked up straight to series in October 2019. The drama starring Olivia Cooke, Emma D'Arcy and Matt Smith will begin production in the spring.

Other Game of Thrones ideas are also being kicked around for both the premium cable network and streaming sibling HBO Max, including a live-action take on Martin's novella series Tales of Dunk and Egg for HBO proper. (No deals are currently in place for Dunk and Egg, either.)

Sources note that expansion plans for Game of Thrones were in the works long before Disney announced plans for nearly a dozen Star Wars and another dozen or so Marvel TV series for its streamer, Disney+, during its investor day in December. While HBO previously developed a number of other Game of Thrones prequels that did not move forward, the emergence of HBO Max has placed a greater importance on building out Martin's sprawling universe. (All of HBO's original series wind up on the streamer the day after they air on the premium cable network.)

I'm moderating a podcast that Walt Jr from Breaking Bad is on. He's lovely, funny, and really cool.

20 minutes into this Legion show. Is it worth it? He just became bf/gf with the blonde girl, but no touching

Watched Gangs of London, wow that was basically porn for everyone with a gore fetish.
Rushed that show way too much killed characters off before they got any substance, like it kinda sucked but at the same time seeing everybody getting blasted was fun to watch.

To me no. The first season is really good and draws you in but it's a crap fest after that. Really weird and felt like they were trying to be just to be cool at times. Other people like it though.
