From the less than perfect sources I've read she's an intersex XY female (has Swyer Syndrome been confirmed?) with undescended testes and natural testosterone 3-4x higher than a typical XX female. So she's clearly not trans but she's also clearly not a typical cis XX female. I agree with the committee's decision to bar her from competition against cis XX women.

So, if I'm understanding correctly, they have an unexpressed male SRY gene making them intersex. Breasts, female genitalia, but an unexpressed gene that effects hormone levels bone density, and muscular development.

Intersex conditions definitely blur the line.
While I don’t like that some on the left try to conflate intersex conditions with trans identity to try to justify trans people invading women’s sports…
intersex conditions are a legit medical condition and not a psychological disorder.
A baby can be born with a vagina, which to most people would qualify that baby as a female.. but they have XY chromosomes. If they live their entire life as a female, raised as a female, known to everyone they know as a female, they drop their pants and have a vagina.. hard to say “oh that’s a MAN”.
They aren’t fully male or female, they are intersex.
In this case, reportedly, despite XY chromosomes, Imane Khelif even has a vagina AND functional uterus capable of carrying a baby to term (although she would require IVF). If one has a vagina, and can carry a child to term.. most people would categorize that as a female.
In other XY intersex cases, despite having a vagina, individuals can have internal testicles capable of producing sperm (Caster Semenya had sperm harvested and used artificial insemination to “father” children, despite having a vagina). In those cases, the athlete is often prevented from competing because the internal testicles produce testosterone that is beyond the normal female limit. In Imane Khelif’s case, she does not have internal testicles, so her testosterone levels fell within the natural range for females, which for Olympic competitions, is what matters. Individuals like Caster Semenya with internal testicles are even still allowed to compete IF they take medication to suppress their testosterone to the normal female range. However, most who have chosen to try this expectedly fall off in performance and are no longer able to compete at the same level. Perhaps the IOC will revise the criteria in the future, but Imane Khelif was within the rules to compete.
Then there are XX intersex cases where a baby is born with a penis and testicles, so are identified as a male, raised as male, develop masculine traits, and don’t find out until later in life that they are sterile and have XX chromosomes. Most people would call them a male despite having XX chromosomes.
It’s not so cut and dry. These are a very small percentage of individuals and they do have a spectrum of presentation. It has nothing to do with the current trans topic.

Not exactly, intersex people aren't male or female. It is incorrect to say only females can give birth but also incorrect to say males can give birth. Thats ignoring the trans side of the argument of course but based on the situation we're speaking about this is an intersex issue not a trans issue

A lot of y'all are foaming at the mouth over trans stuff but that isn't what this is. Intersex people are a complicated subsection of the population and break a lot of the conventional norms we're commonly accustomed to. Kalif, as she presents physically, is just a butch woman. All the right hardware, etc. However, the presence of an unexpressed SRY gene (this controls the development of your sex organs) creates an issue in the contexts of competitive sports. It's a rough situation.

I am curious which intersex condition she has though. She also recently said she has been on medication to suppress her testosterone levels, so she might have a 5AR condition and not Sawyers.

No that is not the rules. World Boxing (based in the UK) recently took over for the Russian led IBA. The rules say every person must undergo mandatory sex testing.
Has nothing to do with testosterone levels. They never stated if you have male chromosomes but have low teste, you can compete with the girls.
They said you have be be born female.
"To be eligible for the women’s category, a competitor must be female at birth. To ensure this policy is implemented, World Boxing will introduce mandatory sex testing to determine the eligibility of female and male athletes that want to take part in its competitions."
There's no confirmation or admission by Khelif's camp that he's intersex at all. It's all bullshit speculation.
These are the KNOWN facts:
1. Sex testing by two independent labs shows Khelif had male chromosomes and Imane got disqualified from World Championships about a year or two before the Olympics.
2. Khelif has always claimed he/she is a biological female - aka ciswoman.
3. If Khelif is intersex after all, it has to be the 5-ard condition Castor Semenya had. People with 5-ard have (undescended) testicles producing testosterone and an unusually small penis.
4. The other intersex conditions like Swyers and CAIS have low testosterone and not possible, because the IBA and even Khelif says they had high testosterone.
