There’s some truth in that, yeah. But like, non-Right-leaning outlets did try to correct some of the misconceptions, but conservatives DGAF about that. And I think for the average American, whatever narrative they hear the most or dominates is what sticks in their mind. Trump is a master of this—he comes up with short little slogans (“No collusion, no obstruction!”) and repeats it ad nauseum. It’s quite effective.
I highly encourage you to read the best selling book "Thinking, Fast and Slow".
It's short, concise, and explains perfectly how humans think, decide, and make decisions.
System 1 is fast thinking - it is intuitive, automatic, emotional, prone to bias, and fast.
System 2 is deliberate, analytical, logical, and much slower. System 2 requires effort and attention. The majority of the population avoids System 2 whenever possible, as it requires effort.
All of this is to say that making those long, well informed posts, complete with sources/etc., are not, for a second, read by 99% of the right leaning people on this website.
Almost all of them operate in System 1 and System 1 only. They see a headline, it tickles their emotions, and that's good enough - this is also why so many right wingers spam TwitterXgram to make their arguments for them - it provides a quick fix for people who associate politics with emotions.
If you pay attention, you will notice a pattern. People like Whippy, Scerpi, the Maganadians, etc., do not actually read posts beyond a sentence or 2 - they read the first line, and scan the rest for buzzwords that their emotionally driven intellect is drawn to. They will then proceed to make an argument they saw on X or Facebook, which, 99 times out of 100, is simply based on an appeal to emotion (in order to generate interest and likes) - there is no effort to even be remotely factual.
It is for that reason that I can't post in good faith here anymore. 50% of the right wingers are simply trolls trying to get a rise out of people and post nothing more than a line or two, or, they are like the guy you are arguing with in this thread - they don't READ through anything you (or @HomeCheese) is posting - I can promise you that. It requires way too much effort. They have the attention span of a 5yo, and prefer to live a life operating in System 1.
Check out the book. I guarantee you will like it.
