TSN looks to be the new home for UFC in Canada

TSN used to be the equivalent of ESPN. Then they lost all the major coverage they had... baseball, hockey, etc. They're down to the English Premier League football, CFL, a few NFL games, etc.

I'd be surprised if Sportsnet didn't get the UFC if they wanted it. But MMA doesn't seem to have the same vibe in Canada anymore with GSP gone. They may decide to drop it.

Sportsnet just spent some ridiculous amount securing nhl rites, I don't think they have the money or the channel space to show events anymore

Makes sense. In fact, it would be a huge step up if UFC airs on TSN1 as opposed to Sportsnet 360.

FINALLY.

Seriously the last 20 times there was UFC for free or prelims etc. I searched on my SATELITE TV under 'sports' where every listing is there, for a UFC broadcast and there was NOTHING. urgh.

since TSN lost hockey i think it was pretty obv they gonna make a move for UFC. They also trying to pump the hell outta the Raptors now after neglecting them for years for NHL coverage.

basically, unless you like hockey, TSN has always sucked.

TSN was the best for hockey, though. They had better production, better pundits and better people to call the games. Rogers has gotten better this year but I still can't stand when Hughson and Simpson are calling games, especially games with either Toronto or Vancouver. Their homerism (when they're supposed to be neutral) for Toronto and Vancouver is fucking irritating.

They have the money, it's just that the UFC isn't worth anything to them when they already have something that garners much better ratings on every night that the UFC would be on. The writing was on the wall ever since Rogers signed the massive NHL deal. They have no need for the UFC anymore.

I appreciate all of our sports channels. They have ups and downs but it's pretty good lately. Basketball and MMA are pretty well represented, so I'm happy.

As long as it doesn't go to the fight network I am happy

Why? The Fight Network would give the UFC the utmost dedication, unlike other sports channels where the UFC is ranked behind nearly everything.

TSN > Sportsnet

Rod Black, baby!

While I originally didn't think TSN would get into the UFC business, it makes sense since they added the new channels. While I don't think it will ever be on TSN 1, it can make their home on either 2 through 5. Hoping it will be better off than on Sportsnet.

This will be a great fit
TSN > Sportsnet

But now that TSN doesn't have hockey anymore I never watch it
Hockey was better on TSN
Everyone at sportsnet is an idiot, when it comes to hockey at least

^ Hah. Seconded. My immediate thought was something horrible happening to Landsberg.

Very few people on the planet benefit more than Landsberg from laws forbidding people getting punched in the head.

My vision: Landsberg doing Off The Record with some of the UFC's premier fighters and having one of them plant a firm fucking choke around his floppy-skin neck and watching his surgery-ridden face turn purple.

TSN doesn't have nearly the penetration Rogers does. This sounds like a downgrade to me.

I cant speak on the east but in the west, TSN is in every household that has any type of cable package. Sportsnet is a premium channel you have to pay extra for. So even with sportsnet having more rights to things like NHL and WWE, the UFC will be in more households on TSN.

Nobody has that channel...but hey, i'm shocked that they are still around, good for them.

Right now in Canada, we get prelims and fight nights free on Fight Pass.

Anyone know if this will change? I love Fight Pass right now because we get everything besides PPV main cards.
