Hopefully there are limits to what aids can put on thumb drives………it is pretty shocking. Companies have tighter controls on data it seems than the government has for classified records.

yes, the last months have convinced me the american classified access protocols are absolutely banana republic level if you are close to the power circles. if you're a regular person, sure, they're tight. the closer you are to power though, the more lax they are. if you were to do a proper search for all past 5 presidents and all their VPs and aides and secretaries of whatever, you'd probably find THOUSANDS of serious irregularities

The FBI controls classified information. They would give all members of Congress and any politicians that had access to classified information 1 month to search themselves and staff and turn over any classified documents they were nor suppose to have. Then they would ask to search their computers and offices.

Changed the thread title, but the Aide worked for Save America PAC, so it makes me question, who the hell has access to classified documents.
A PAC donates money to Trump, so does being a donor allow you access to classified documents?
I mean Trump gave a Presidential Medal of Freedom to Shelden Adelsen's wife after Shelden gave Trump 75 million in campaign money. I wonder what classified documents cost to get to copy them on a thumb drive. Trump told us the classified documents were secure, then said he thought about declassifying them so no longer classified.
He needs to find one story and stick to it. All these versions, make it hard to believe it was an accident putting them on a thumb drive.
It was totally an accident, sure the folder said Top Secret on it, but thought Trump was just repurposing files to save the environment.
The accident excuse is not passing the smell test.
Lastly the policy with classified documents needs to change if a dude working for a political PAC can accidently copy them on a thumb drive.

I’m for controlling classified US documents. I’m not for violating rights, searching homes without probable cause or a witch hunt. Weird that you as a staunch conservative would be for such a government intrusion.

I didn't say they could search anything they wanted. If you handed classified information you should be issues a secure laptop and that is the only thing they should be on. That is government property and is subject to search at anytime. Anything else is on a voluntary basis unless you have enough for a warrant. Have you ever handed classified information. You sign all kinds of papers to be able to do so. What's good for normal people should be the same for all politicians. The penalties should be the same if you fail to handle them properly.

You take the job and get the pay and right to handle classified information no matter who you are you need to meet the same requirements and face the same consequences.

I doubt certain posters will devout the same energy they devoted to Hunter's laptop now that classified documents were found on Donny's laptop.

My question is why have copies of a classified folder on an unsecured laptop. Also Donny is not the most computer literate person because he is damn near 80, so who put it on there for him.
