Probably because most people can tell the difference between protesters who were genuinely upset about a miscarriage of justice leading to the death of an individual in the hands of law enforcement vs. a bunch of people trying to invalidate a valid election based on lies propagated by the leaving administration. How does BLM achieve their goals? What do they stand for? If there was even a percentage of the 1/6 investigation used to track down the violent offenders and the people who backed that group's activities in 2020, what do you think they'd find? You guys want to make everything you can out of 1/6 in the hopes it prevents Trump from running again. But what is that one day compared to the months of violence and destruction the country faced in 2020? Who's being held accountable for carving out autonomous zones in American cities and terrorizing those residents? None of you guys ever touch that subject beyond lightly worded condemnations. The scary part is how many think the actions taken by those BLM terrorists was justified.
Angry protests turning violent isn't new. It's handled by arresting the violent protesters. Trying to overthrow an election by breaking into the Capitol is new and when it's pushed by the prior administration, you're getting closer to insurrection and coup territory. The protests around George Floyd were not trying to invalidate 200+ years of the peaceful transfer of government power. The 2 things are not the same.
It's like asking why one guy killing his neighbor isn't getting the same scrutiny as another guy shooting the President just because they're both shooting crimes.
That people continue to conflate the two is always a decent window into how fucked those people are.
