Trump's Ed. Pick with No Teaching or Admistrative Experience

You must be 15

Former Democrat who withdrew her Candidacy for the Secretary of Education due to Democrats For Education Reform partisan pressure supports the Devos nomination:

"Charter school leader Eva Moskowitz threw her support behind Donald Trump’s education secretary pick on Tuesday, arguing that the nation’s foundering public school system requires a systemic overhaul.

Betsy DeVos — who faces her confirmation hearing Tuesday — has expressed vehement support of charters and school choice, stoking the ire of teachers unions across the country.

Moskowitz, the force behind the high-performing Success Academy network, officially endorsed DeVos on Tuesday and stressed a need for wholesale reform.

'It does not take years of teaching in the classroom to understand that public education in this country is in deep crisis,' she said in a statement. 'Globally, 35 other countries outrank the U.S. in student math performance, and 20 beat us in reading.'

Point was that this is exactly how the Republicans responded post 08 and look where it got them - full government deadlock 2 years later that lasted for a further 6.

We have a direct election system which is why we have a two party system. Change it to a runoff system and you would have many competing parties and you might not get these sort of two party tactics.

My pick?

"Whatcha gonna do, when the largest education in the world runs wild on you?"

Seriously, though, I would have picked somebody with some experience in running a school system successfully.

I am of the opinion that our school system is terribad, the whole system. I prefer someone not tied to it, nor ever a part of it, or at best, has denounced it.

Not saying, this current lady is that, but I dont see how she can be less qualified than someone who has run the current system successfully.

OUr pub ed sux already. If you think this lady is just in it for a profit, what do you think our current Pub Ed industrial complex is?

She did go to school, private, and her brotha is a Navy Seal. I think this is good pick. She should bring her bro in along with her. We can implement some Navy SEAL military style training into our Pub Ed now. Be better than it is before.

In this world of yours... What SEAL things would you like to see implemented on children?

I'm gonna just cut to the chase here for everyone so we can stop the silly back and forth.

It's like this: the wealthy (specifically conservatives) tend Republicans because Republicans champion elitist policy. Devos is a perfect example. The entire aim here is the relieve wealthy tax payers from having their money contribute to public education because frankly they don't think they should have to help pay for it. They want to break off all state services that buttress the middle class or the poor because (again) they don't like the idea of their money going to lesser people. Devos wants to put a charter school voucher system in to take money away from public education and put it into private for profit charter schools.

This process begins to separate the rich kids who can afford the best education from the poor who cannot. The end result is a firmer caste system that benefits the wealthy and elite. None of that means kids who're smart and highly achieving will actually benefit or be raised up. Quite the contrary, quality education will only be available to the wealthy even if their children are average or have special needs. Skip forward a generation and all of a sudden you have a much much worse education gap between wealthy and middle class/poor... it would absolutely dwarf the current divide.

For those of you in the middle class or really struggling that supported trump, understand all of the above and understand it well. You can always go back on your support and fight for yourself.

The Democrats are loaded with dummies and elitists but at least they try. The Republicans, people like Devos or Paul Ryan or Jeff Sessions want to destroy the states efforts at providing aid, support and an equal opportunity that fosters the highest chance of achievement. If we did that this country's economy would be light years better off in the long run because it would fully tap into the populations innovative potential.

Look no further than Sessions attempts to suppress equal rights to vote or Ryan's efforts to destroy care for the elderly. They're gutless, heartless people who don't care about making America great again - they care only or their own closest ilk.

That literally explains nothing. And after actually looking up this woman, I realize that you seriously need to do your fucking homework. She wasn't appointed as the military "head of the air force". That is the Air Force Chief of Staff position. She was appointed as head of NORAD/NORTHCOM, so your line about not being a pilot sounds even more ridiculous.

Also, there are currently 14 4-star generals in the Air Force. If you want to make an argument for why she's not qualified, you at least need to look at her career track, what positions she held before, and if that logically leads to a combatant command position. Right now you just sound like a naive civilian that's just talking out of your ass. I recommend that you stay in your lane and avoid making a further ass out of yourself.
Bull fucking shit. You are the naive one if you truly think that she was the most qualified for the job, appointed right after a "muh muh diversity" joke of a statement from Obama too....how fucking dense can you get?. Cool rant though, maybe save the next one for something more worthwhile. Smartarse

And that answer is why you fail.

guys like you have been dismissing Trump and his abilities from the day he announced his candidacy - and he's destroyed you all the way. There's no reason to doubt his success at this point.

RIP our education system. Baby boomers used you like the goddamn Giving Tree and refused to plant more.

I'm going to say my piece on this and leave it alone because I've already spent too many hours of my life debating this subject -- it is a rabbit hole of conflicting data, reports etc.

1) We all want US schools to be the best. However, if you look past the headlines and into the data, our schools actually do pretty darn well for a country with so many immigrants, so much racial diversity, and so many kids living in poverty.

2) A lot of the scores on these international tests are tightly clustered. Let's say you are in a big college class of 100 kids. You got the 30th best score on a test. Not amazing, not terrible. But let's say your actual score was an 82, while the best grade in the class was a 91. Would you call your test a horrible failure?

3) And this is the most important point, even if you accept the narrative that US schools are in some state of horrible failure, Devos's model has only proven to make things WORSE! Under her policies, Michigan's 4th and 8th grade math and reading scores slipped from the mid-20's to the low 40's in state-by-state rankings.

How is applying these policies to the whole country supposed to solve the perceived problem??

4) It is not surprising that you found a Democrat who is in support of Devos’s policies – a Democrat who owns a company that runs for-profit charter schools! There are Democrat crooks and rats just like there are Republican crooks and rats.

Sausage King, the ONLY thing he has been successful at so far was getting people (and I would argue desperate and gullible people) to believe that he was going to be successful.

Stop playing this up as some amazing track record.

He won a popularity contest between some of the least popular people of all time. That is all the "success" he has achieved to this point.

@luckyshot, I respect the fact you are still in here fighting the good fight even though it's over and you lost. Unlike the rest of the liberal shills who have just stopped posting recently. But I gotta put you on ignore at this point. You're making like 3 threads a day, they're all the same, they could easily just be in a 'bitch about losing the election' super thread and honestly, you don't say anything interesting or insightful in any of these threads, you just whine because you lost.

Lol. Alright dude. If you think there is only one important issue in the world "Who won an who lost the last presidential election," that says all that anyone needs to know about you.

We need guys like luckyshot. Otherwise this would be a boring place with just guys like you and I. We gotta have somebody to argue with.

You need a safe space pussy?

Dissenting arguments ruining your cognitive dissonance?

Sad!

Winning doesn't make your right. It only makes you responsible.
