Then when you factor in that Trump's administration so far has spent $200B more than in the same period last year, that tariff revenue is even less meaningful.
Just amazing how irresponsible this all is.
Took a hatchet to the government and put a bunch of people out of work for no appreciable benefits at all.
@Seano is a very bitter source of entertainment. I'm glad more people are realizing this.no problem, I laugh at you literally every day.

I don’t think the worlds can align. I’d love to see a detailed breakdown (from economists, I mean) but he very short answer is that income tax generates far more revenue than tariffs. In other words, the tariffs would have to be insanely high to make up that much revenue.
Having that extra money in our pockets won’t mean much because we won’t be able to afford things, and the things we have the options to buy will be greatly reduced because trade will be so greatly harmed.
these threads are hilarious, patiently trying to explain tariffs and trade to guys with the intellect of a golden retriever..I know that a big chunk of the MAGA base will go down with the ship, but this nonsense is going to stop being cute for a lot of people when inventory starts to run out in stores.

top 5 trumptard for sure; I don't take any of it seriously.@Seano is a very bitter source of entertainment. I'm glad more people are realizing this.

Because our country is so big I believe it’s hard for people to really understand what existence is like for Americans with a vastly different existence based on their geographical location.wish i could find the link, but in the run up to 2016 NPR went all over NC talking to people from tiny towns to big cities and just doing soft interviews asking about people's thoughts. I felt so bad when they were interviewing some citizens of a declining former textile mill town. They were so hopeful trump would turn things around. Maybe open up the mill again. maybe get the movie theater running again. These weren't crazy maga cultists, they just felt left behind, forgotten, and trump made an effort to reach out to them even though he had zero solutions to offer. it's sad to see the desperation of these people used against them.
imagine, trump could have just done nothing and reaped all of the rewards from Biden's good economic policies.
dumb fuck
This additional 900 million in costs is for this quarter.
US iPhone supply shifted to India? Great, things seem to be going well over there.
Let's just say the moon is made of cheese too. We import not much more than we take in from income tax.So lets say all worlds align and Trump can generate enough revenue to eliminate income tax.
How is it not better for the economy for the consumers to have more money to spend in our country?
I get what you're saying that people generally are irresponsible with extra money but if its extra money being spent, ins't that going to stimulate the overall economy of the US?
I saw that CNN article too.Let's just say the moon is made of cheese too. We import not much more than we take in from income tax.
In other words, tariff rates would have to be well over 100% because or existing carveouts, ya dunce.
Why advantage would tariffs have here then? The government could just expand the EITC to an absurd degree if the point is to defray taxation on those Americans.I saw that CNN article too.
The top 10 % pay 72% of our federal income taxes. You're ignoring that this is for people making under 200k, I believe.
