Took a hatchet to the government and put a bunch of people out of work for no appreciable benefits at all.

These idiots have broken the global economy and disrupted the lives of over 100k federal employees and have nothing to show for it. Staggering levels of incompetence.

Because our country is so big I believe it’s hard for people to really understand what existence is like for Americans with a vastly different existence based on their geographical location.

When you drive through the Midwest all of the hopeless, forlorn, depressed emo music that came out of there makes sense. You can feel the sense of hopelessness and emptiness that permeates those giant fields of nothing. I didn’t start listening to hip-hop until I went to New York but you can understand how and why that music took off there. Spend any time stuck in an endless suburban sprawl and you will start getting subconsciously pissy and angry about it. Now add some teenage angst and hormones and you’ve got punk rock.

I am lucky enough to travel all over the United States for work. I was just in Austin, then Philly, and I’ll be in New Jersey in a couple weeks. It is easier to understand the POV of people when you spend a little time in their environments. not everybody has that opportunity, unfortunately.

I get what you're saying that people generally are irresponsible with extra money but if its extra money being spent, ins't that going to stimulate the overall economy of the US?

Let's just say the moon is made of cheese too. We import not much more than we take in from income tax.

In other words, tariff rates would have to be well over 100% because or existing carveouts, ya dunce.

I saw that CNN article too.


The top 10 % pay 72% of our federal income taxes. You're ignoring that this is for people making under 200k, I believe.

Why advantage would tariffs have here then? The government could just expand the EITC to an absurd degree if the point is to defray taxation on those Americans.

Not to mention people making 190K are absurdly wealthy by the country's standards and quite a few American who are working class don't pay income tax already.

So now your plan has made goods more expensive and increased effective taxes on working class and lower income Americans.
