Economy Trump's April 2nd Tariffs

Regardless if you think the tariffs are gonna work, or if you think they are dumb, China literally relies on the US buying their products to feed their people. They can print money and give it out to the their people for a while but it will come crashing down eventually.

Question. If I am a producer and both currencies are falling would you choose the country that has less or more skilled workers? You said that China literally relies on the U.S. buying their products but wouldn't the U.S. be hurt more as we rely more on their imports as we import more from them than we export to them?

Hilarious that there's people who keep falling for the "70 countries are dying to kiss his ass" nonsense

These are the same imbeciles who think J6 was a 'peaceful protest'; those who took part deserved the pardon Trump gave them; and the election was still stolen; all while having zero issues with some innocent people being deported to foreign prisons. They don't operate in reality. They're just orange boot lickers. Talk about a cult.

I know it's common among conservatives and some liberals but forget trying to weaken China now. The first thing that needs to be done is the idea of "We're America and we demand this has to be done so do it." has to be thrown out the window. You said we need to form alliances and cut China out of the game but all America needs to do is start fixing the basics first. Start fixing infrastructure, start actual efficient public transportation across the country, actually invest in education and fix the student loan issues, work on fixing housing among other things and America will get better.

Conservatives have used the exact same playbook for over 40 years now. I would go further and say don't just say what Trump is doing is stupid but conservative policies as a whole are stupid. Now I know some conservatives will disagree with me but then I have a question. How do you beat a country when you do not own the means to much of the production and you want to cut education funding so that those things you are already short on less people will know how to do them?
I beat this drum whenever it comes up. 100% agree, but whenever you talk about investing in America the GOP riles up their base and argues that the money spent will benefit the "others" and shit usually gets shut down.

Pigs getting slaughtered. As usual.

The 2008 market crash made me absolutely rich. I just got back from a deployment. Had all that money saved. I got over 1000 shares of MSFT at less than $30 per share. I think it was 2012 when shit went sideways again. Bought way more stuff.

This last week was good to me. I wish I was more liquid to take advantage.
Market crashes are good actually.

Most people know this but it is because for the longest time (another terrible feature of Reagan) conservatives have been told paying more taxes is bad and you will get people saying "Well if you like paying taxes you give more to the government." Instead shouldn't the argument actually be what the money should be spent on? How can you compete as a first world country and oppose spending money on education? Giving education back to the states only assures that the states with lower education standards continue to stay low, and America plans to compete against China how?

Here I stand, calling trumps actions retarded. I simply am saying we should have a coordinated effort against China. Which this is not.

Again: $30 trillion economy; closest rival weighs in below $20t, and has lost over $4 trillion in ground over the last half-decade alone. But it's services based, consumption driven, and we've got trade deficits! The fundamentals have evaporated. Or, not? It's also the largest agriculture exporter in the world, largest energy producer in the world, has domestic manufacturing output larger than the entire GDP of all but six countries and over 480,000 jobs in the sector are going unfilled right now that can't be filled by cheap unskilled labor. And global trade? As a percentage of GDP, the United States is the 191st most dependent country on international trade -- out of 193. How much more "isolationism" is necessary?

So like what the fuck are we even doing here? What is the plan? What is the end game? Double You Tee Eff!

think about how many products your average american has in their home that come from China vs how many american products your average Chinese person has in their home. I'm willing to bet most Chinese homes have less than 5% american products.

Stable Genius, brah

To be clear, I don’t endorse this strategy. However, China should face heavy sanctions for both crimes against humanity and international IP theft. They should face a coordinated tariff effort. Not just us.

They need to face a full court press. HOWEVER, our POS leaders sold us out to China. Drug manufacturers alone gives them the ability to bend us over. They have a 50 year plan. We have jack shit.

when will US pay for the wars against multiple countries in last hundred years killing millions upon millions?
when will US pay for their CIA operated regime change that brought chaos and destruction on third world countries in South America
the US comapnies decided to use slave labors in China so they can exploit cheap labor because they are greedy billionaires psychopaths why shouldn't they be prosecuted? maybe the Apple CEO, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezo etc should all be shot as well.
this is realpolitik, there's winner and loser but to act all high and mighty like US hasn't also been a dipshit for the last couple decades is insane
the we are the good guys and these are authoritarian regimes we must fight back rhetoric might work during the biden administration when you haven't been an asshole towards the entire world. now you have much less leverage than before

and let's not act like Trump is any less evil than Xi. just a couple day ago he orchestrated an insider trading/market manipulation on the US stock market to profit billions upon billions. these people are above the laws and they can do whatever they want without consequences. it's the average people in america and china that suffers. they had no choice non of us wanted any of this

I don't think there's going to be a clear winner or loser; I think both sides will need to capitulate to some degree. Of course anything less than China "bending the knee" (to quote our local tards), should be seen as an L for trump. Ultimately we'll probably end up with a mutually concessive deal that could have been reached without all the nonsense and economic damage.

but why should anybody expect trump to honor any deals when he can just renege on anything he said. let's say China and US made a deal to do this and that. China obliged, then when it's done Tariffs back on China again. You think China is this stupid? they are done with the US market and looking for alternative plans. just look at their official statement, they already acknowledged their US market is gone for both import and export and they are done with this tiresome back and force. this effectively is an embargo.
