Economy Trump's April 2nd Tariffs

That was the approval rating Trump had during his little attempt to overturn the 2020 election, its safe to say these people will back Trump no matter what
2020. I didn't know that was this year

"Losing money is good because it builds character"

When did you guys realized you became the far left of America
I hope you keying up Teslas , and burning orange dolls really helps you release that unstable emotional rage you have .. I made a comment about the mods and you go durrrrr but Trump

So after I gave you the numbers because you were too lazy and busy playing the oblivious "centrist" all you have to say is "lol"?

About what I expected. Literally brainbroken
You are wrong and just guessing. That are the numbers you came up with. It isn't 2021 or 2024. So try again

Im not even American and while it saddens me to see Trump destroying your country, im more concerned about the international effects of him being pro-Russia and anti-capitalism.

You know like the far left populist he is.

This prediction is the intersection of logic and wishful thinking:

The tariffs will reverse soon. Trump will claim a win for some bullshit, obscure trade deal that you've never heard of and now the glass beads from cambodia will be cheaper/more expensive/whatever. Trump isn't a person who can admit fault so he'll have to save face with lies.

The reason is that the Republic Party will get wiped out in the mid terms if nothing changes. I can't see them sitting idly by as they see the writing on the wall that they won't have a job soon.

Earlier there were questions about tourism and the popularity of the US/Trump in light of recent events.

You probably don't know, but Australia has a federal election in under a month's time, and so international politics is a significant issue.

An article today in the Australian Financial Review, a right-centre production, had the following to say:

And second, it fuelled that perception Dutton was aping Donald Trump, more so given his DOGE-like pledge to axe 41,000 public sector jobs. That, too, was nuanced yesterday with the promise of no forced redundancies.

While there was a mild net positive by being associated with Trump soon after his election last year, by January it had become a drag, and now it is rat poison.

No finer description than rat poison is how the world views Trump. He's used as a slur in our election cycle.

Now that Asia's major stock markets are open we can take a look at where we are with the big falls we're seeing today:

  • Nikkei 225 (Japan) -6.3%
  • *Hang Seng (Hong Kong) -9.8%
  • *Shanghai Composite (mainland China) -6.6%
  • ASX 200 (Australia) -4.5%
  • Kospi (South Korea) -4.4%
  • *Taiex (Taiwan) -9.6%
  • STI (Singapore) -7.1%
  • Dow Jones Futures (US) -2%

*closed on Friday for public holidays

----

These are the opening scores.

There's a good few hours to go, folks.

NOTE: This isn't 'good' for Trump or America.

Based on how they dipped in line with the other indexes last week I'd estimate around a 7% drop in the dow today.

I don't support either political party. I voted for Trump because he stated he wanted to secure the boarder and uninvolve us in foreign conflict

If that makes me evil, or retarded, or an evil retard then keep saying it. I'm just about done posting here anyways
You voted for the guy who told people to inject bleach.

Yes you are a retard.

Well Tesla down over 10 percent in pre market, meta down 8 percent we are talking 10's of billions, Alphabet 3 percent. It seems the world has had enough of Tesla an META. RIVIAN an GM 2 or 3 percent.

I'm skeptical that they even intend to have free and fair elections in 2026, much less 2028. And even if they don't interfere, never count out the Democrats' talent for shooting themselves in their collective dicks.

I posted this in the 'how bad is Trump for tourism' thread, but I think more of the shittalking was here. So:

As for denigrating people who voted Trump, it can probably be cathartic to express your outrage but in the end I suspect it's just getting everyone nowhere.

Woke politics, illegal immigration, government wastage are all things I wish we could see a whole lot less of. It's bullshit and exhausting. I just wish the US could achieve that without slitting its own throat in the process.

People made their choice. They're welcome to their opinions. You're welcome to yours. Calling them shitbags is probably not going to get them to change their mind. Giving people the opportunity to say "Well, I like XYZ of someone's platform but this is too far. I regret it" without being a condescending ass might help.
