Economy Trump's April 2nd Tariffs

An article I enjoyed ~

Billionaire Bill Ackman Makes Compelling Case for President Trump’s Tariff Strategy: “I Wouldn’t Bet Against Him”

“Trump’s strategy is not without risk" : definitely.

It's not complicated to write out the scenario where this blows up in the face of the US. In fact it's easy to write down the sequence of events that would have to happen. The reality is the probability of those things happening are not very high. They aren't zero, but they aren't anywhere close to 50%.

No stupid , do you not see how the left here in WR discredit any post from X? Doesn’t matter if it’s a full video of a person talking about the subject at hand. I was making fun of that . But maybe your awareness isn’t that high. Plus 1 for durrr Trump guys

You tried to be "funny" by completely disregarding the content of the video, in which vice president shits all over the president?

You got any comments on JD Vance calling Trump a hitler, idiot and other fine words to now being a major shit eater that has to act Trump is the next coming of Christ?

And congrats, you made me ever so slightly dumber for participating in this retarded convo with you.

It’s sarcasm not comedy stupid. Yes we all know about this video and Vance talked about it last few years this was before “he knew Trump”
Stop using Reddit left attack talking points and be original. That’s like me showing a video of Trump at Clinton’s wedding and being like he libs see , he use to be a Democrat . Don’t become a shit poster

It's a moderate risk portfolio, mostly Canadian, through BMO.

Like BMO ETFs? Out of the 43 BMO ETFs listed https://bmogamhub.com/system/files/bmo_etfroadmap_eng.pdf Only 4 are Canadian.

If your investments are managed by a big Canadian bank investment advisor I'm going to bet 48% (that seems to be their number) is in ZSP. Take a look at your allocation and see how the fund is disbursed. The TD app breaks each account down by CDN, US and global. I assume the BMO investment app is similar.

I think you're going to find out that you are heavily weighted to US equities.

Yes, when you have no talking points (like is often the case with Trump supporters) you use "it just a joke/sarcasm bro" stupid deflections..

"before he knew Trump" - you mean before he figured out he could have a much more successful political career by switching sides? Dude has 0 integrity.

Why you mentioning Reddit? I don't need to read opinions of reddit morons for me to know that everyone in Trump team is just there to kiss his ass - and those that don't kiss his ass, and truly believe he is great for USA, are morons (Steve Bannon, Marjorie Taylor Greene).

Dude was already a president and did fuck all for USA in his 1st term. He is now 3 months into his second term and is somehow doing worse than all 4 years of his first presidency.

The only thing he got better at, is golfing. Dude is spending millions of tax payers money to go golfing several times a month. His supporters now how to pretend they are a-ok with that and conveniently leave out the fact that Trump used to criticise Obama every time he went golfing during his presidency.

Short term pains for long term gains = keep subscribing to the cult and don't question the process

I'm watching all this with bemusement from aus, but if that is how it plays out wouldn't that be worth it?

I think a lot of people have realised their government's are fucking up certain aspects of the economy whether it's incompetence of malicious corruption and I think it's fair to expect a level of disruption when trying to correct that.

Take Australia for example, we have a massive amount of natural resources but compared to other countries we make barely anything on them because the government nearly gives it away to ensure companies invest here in us.

If the government tried to change that it would probably cause some serious disruption with work but in the long run we'd be better off. I see what's happening here as the same

If the government is run by anyone competent it wouldn't, it would need some subsidies which would be for the most part a fiscal issue, not a destroy the economy issue.

This is like the "welfare state" vs "socialism" argument, a welfare state is still grounded in economic orthodoxy a very capitalist and competitive economy that uses tax revenue to fund "money losing" welfare programs, socialism is just having government directly run everything which leads to total disaster.

Take for example agriculture, every single nation in the world subsidizes agriculture for strategic reasons without much disruption.
