Fake news. I know.
I heard from local butchers in Farnborough who were missing out. I heard it all from them face to face so I don't know what you're on about.Ah. And yet, in the long run, leaving hurt citizens more than ever.
That's politics. You heard the publicized/politicized pros and cons, but didn't really hear it all.
Uneducated populaces will elect a fascist if they feel like they're being picked on. It's happened...not too long ago.
Will he or won't he.
Stay tuned to find out on The Greatest Circus in American History
That's more of a both sides problem imo. After all of our BS in the middle east, it was best that we didn't fiddle with any more poor brown countries. They will blame the liberals for being "weak on China" despite the Trump administration actively dismantling our entire system of soft power
Yeah. China has been slowly bullying and controlling you guys for the last 10+ish years, and nobody seems to give a fuck.Ironically that 50% tariff on China might be some of the hardest impacts on us in Australia, since our resources sector is so prevalent and China is the largest trading partner for that.
I don't think he respects alliances at all. I don't think he respects soft power. I think he just wants to take whatever he can get away with, though it will likely come at some cost.
Interesting article, I'm also not savvy enough to analyze it.![]()
Donald Trump’s economic masterplan - UNHERD - Yanis Varoufakis
Faced with President Trump’s economic moves, his centrist critics oscillate between desperation and a touching faith that his tariff frenzy will fizzle out. They assume that Trump will huff and puff until reality exposes the emptiness of his economic rationale. They have not been paying...www.yanisvaroufakis.eu
I'm not enough of an economic expert to know if this is BS or not but I found this article by a pretty left wing economic expert who's actually quite in favour of tariffs interesting.

I'm talking about the non-nefarious stuff, which does indeed exist. I mean taken as a whole the system of Global Health (for example) is loaded with problems, but cutting out money-and-sundry diplomacy in the underdeveloped world is just full faceplant retardedThat's more of a both sides problem imo. China said "Hold my beer/fake communism, I'm on the way."
Even if that were true, healthcare in most of Africa is a problem orders of magnitude beyond anything the West experiences. The people in those countries care very very much about, say, malaria medicine.Tbf - your soft power in Africa isn't as noticed as China's. No one cares that kids weight maybe a few percentages better or disease rates are a few points lower when they've got flashy new soccer stadiums
Because US economy is based on free trade, guaranteeing minimum importing costs to products in order to make US companies as competitive as possible.Yes, tell me again - why shouldn't we have tariffs against countries who have tariffs on the US? What is the logic to allow everyone else placing tarrifs on the US without reciprocity?
A lot of the trade imbalance with the Eu is because us products dont live up to regulations.Because natural resources and agriculture workers had a powerful domestic lobby and wanted their shit protected
They consider VAT to be a tariffI see one wrong number and I assume most of the numbers are bogus. New Zealand has gone pretty maximally free trade, sometimes to our own detriment. A lot of stuff comes in tariff free, and the average tariff on US goods is less than 2%, yet somehow he is claiming that we impose a 20% tariff on US Goods. We likely won't retaliate as a trade war with a superpower isn't in our interest, but this is just dumb, incredibly stupid relations. We are already turning to China as our biggest export partner, and this pushes us harder in that direction.
A lot of the trade imbalance with the Eu is because us products dont live up to regulations.
Agriculture being a big one. Us beef is pumped with hormones and some stuff labeled carcinogens by the Eu. Poultry is washed with ammonia. If us product werent toxic dogshit it wouldnt be banned.
Cars is another one. Many us cars simply dont live up to emissions standards in the Eu. Most us automakers also just try to sell American cars in the Eu and Europeans simply dont want that type of cars or can get better cars made in the Eu. Ford has been the most successful because they actually built cars for the Eu market.
Tariffs wont fix that. Making better products will
These tariffs are arbitrary.None of that has to do tariffs specifically.
