Economy Trump's April 2nd Tariffs

I'm anti tarrif. I was agreeing with another poster that implementing them is out of the leftist play book and that if it was bernie going after it, we would see a reversal of attitude among bernie bros and trumpers. We also saw common ground between the two with TPP (which also involved higher developed Asian countries)

Trump is also citing protectionslism as a reasoning
It seems to me that the only ones who truly benefit from worldwide tariffs will be the top percenters who have a hand in most industries. This is going to absolutely rape the average American, not to mention geopolitical friendships/alliances, and all good will that America has gained since WW2.

This is undoing all of that. Even George Jr. and Iraq, as close as he took it, didn't ruin our international standing.

It's taken Trump 3 months into his second term.

I had no idea we had so many finance, economic, and foreign relation experts on the forum. Dunning-Kruger effect on full display here.

We've had 12 of the last 16 years firmly under democratic executive control. And we are FUCKED UP in trouble economically. I'm going to give Trump more than 3 months to unfuck it.

What I'd like to see is a concerted effort by our Republican led house wean itself off Omnibus CR bullshit kick the can budget impotence and actually do their fuckin job. Seal clapping for a 24hr stand up struggle sessions for PR ain't cutting it.

Well, we know Trump doesn't have any finance or economic experts in his cabinet.

I like how you left out the 4 years under Trump that resulted in record amounts of debt.
Debt that hasn't been seen before.

False equivalence and plenty of Bernie supporters have been very critical of him, even on this board. Tariffs can be used intelligently, this is not an example of that.
bernie bros were rabid against the TPP which would have solidified the US as a the dominate piece within the pacific rim. But beyond that, bernie and his zealots were so focused on protectionism that you can't convince me that if he did Implement broad tarrifs, you would not hesitate to applaud it

But again, tarrifs outside of hyper focused to bend a specific entity to your whim, is assisnine

The greatest circus in American history was when the Dems Weekend at Bernies'd a vegetable around for four years and you idiots actually bought it.

Nah this is way worse. Biden was a vegetable but Trump is a clown. A funny clown. I'm tuning in for this circus most definitely, it's been a wild ride and we're only 3 months in lol. Can't wait for the pitchforks to come out and MAGA sinking with the ship, it shall be glorious.

Americans are the global top percenters....the impacts of them are projected to be an extra 1500-3000 per year which will be impactful to the bottom to mid quintiles.

But I agree it' dumb global policy.

How would you feel to tell the poor and bottom middle class to pay 3,000 more a year?

You should be phoning your King and telling him to reverse Brexit. It's in their best interest, because clearly America is fucked at the moment.
LOL, the good thing about voting is that the British public voted to leave. And the monarchy can't overturn such a vote.

I’m sure that asking this question will be a colossal waste of time, but…
Why exactly do you not care about the middle class and

Because they're not my problem. My focus is on maximizing my total income and getting my net income to be as much of my gross income.

It's weird because I'm pretty sure it was just a referendum vote to gauge the populace, it ended up being like 54-46, and the British govt decided to run with it.

Such a massive fuck up, that it'll be Boris Johnson's legacy. Which is sad, because he's the most anti-Russian voice that you guys need. And his name's Boris!
