Economy Trump's April 2nd Tariffs

I see one wrong number and I assume most of the numbers are bogus. New Zealand has gone pretty maximally free trade, sometimes to our own detriment. A lot of stuff comes in tariff free, and the average tariff on US goods is less than 2%, yet somehow he is claiming that we impose a 20% tariff on US Goods. We likely won't retaliate as a trade war with a superpower isn't in our interest, but this is just dumb, incredibly stupid relations. We are already turning to China as our biggest export partner, and this pushes us harder in that direction.
These people are not smart people

She got rode enough, Rod. She basically was.

Still weird that you need to basically invent a whole fantastical scenario so that you can say "both sides".

Bernie lost Democrat primaries twice, precisely because Bernie's economic ideas are too far to the left for the likes of Democrats and even Bernie himself doesn't want a trade war with other developed countries like Canada, EU members and Japan, he only wants to tariffs poor countries.

Also Trump literally is saying he is tariffing as a form of revenue.

Will he or won't he.
Stay tuned to find out on The Greatest Circus in American History

The greatest circus in American history was when the Dems Weekend at Bernies'd a vegetable around for four years and you idiots actually bought it.

I'm anti tarrif. I was agreeing with another poster that implementing them is out of the leftist play book and that if it was bernie going after it, we would see a reversal of attitude among bernie bros and trumpers. We also saw common ground between the two with TPP (which also involved higher developed Asian countries)

Trump is also citing protectionslism as a reasoning

I had no idea we had so many finance, economic, and foreign relation experts on the forum. Dunning-Kruger effect on full display here.

We've had 12 of the last 16 years firmly under democratic executive control. And we are FUCKED UP in trouble economically. I'm going to give Trump more than 3 months to unfuck it.

What I'd like to see is a concerted effort by our Republican led house wean itself off Omnibus CR bullshit kick the can budget impotence and actually do their fuckin job. Seal clapping for a 24hr stand up struggle sessions for PR ain't cutting it.

the irony of your post is stunning. mind-boggling.

you do realize that Trump led a populist insurgence into the White House based on the premise that "experts" were to blame for the predicament?

your messiah is actually the dictionary definition of the Dunning-Kruger effect in action

The Democrats have been doing a bad job too, that's how someone like Trump even sniffs a presidential run. Trump just happens to be far worse and less competent. He's a sleazy, shitty business criminal who fell upwards. Fortunately for him he's charismatic.

Obama described himself as a moderate Republican by 80s standards (accurate) and passed a rightwing healthcare plan. Corn Pop was okay domestically but his brain been has been falling out of his skull for several years.

False equivalence and plenty of Bernie supporters have been very critical of him, even on this board. Tariffs can be used intelligently, this is not an example of that.

Tarrifs can make sense when used in specific situations, but mostly after domestic infrastructure is already in place in a domestic industry that can already meet increased demand. Especially in situations where you want to protect jobs.

Rolling out blanket tarrifs on the whole planet while mass firing federal employees (hell of a jobs program) is not a recipe for economic success.

Tariffs overall as a economic benefit among first world / or regional emerging markets is asinine.
