As I was reading this morning government spending does tend to slow down the economy. Politicians do like their pork, or vote buying though.

With that said, I haven't looked into detail on what the latest spending bill includes. I've seen mentions from blue politicians that red politicians are trying to kill Americans with spending cuts. Outrageous! The morgues will be full blue politicians claim.

My guess is there isn't any spending cuts. They are just slowing down spending. In the past at least that is how the political game was played.

Trump makes a habit of surrounding himself with people who he can blame shit on or take the fall for him
Trump hires Elon to do all his DOGE bullshit, Elon pisses everyone off in the process but gets at least some of what Trump wants done.
Elon becomes the lightning rod for all of the heat for DOGE, then when he leaves the position Trump moves to undo some of that stuff to save face, and further blame Elon for what went wrong.
in the future if someone questions him about stuff related to that he can further pin the blame on Elon.

What does “slowing down spending” mean?

The bill has nearly 1 trillion dollars in cuts to SNAP and Medicaid over the next decade, to offset massive spending on tax cuts, largely for the wealthy. The bill is projected to add 5 trillion to the debt in the next few years. So they are not slowing down spending at all, they’re spending like drunken sailors.
They are cutting funds for SNAP and Medicaid.
