There probably are hundreds and hundreds of videos - of the same 4 kids doing dumb shit while hundreds and hundreds of paid political commentators each independently insist hell has broken loose.

I've been talking about this shit for weeks. You take a boatload of people and have them train their cameras on something, all of a sudden it looks like everyone is talking about it. But really what you're seeing is a very narrow portion of the actual context. We have had, and will continue to have, no end of idiots causing trouble. It really was serious during the last shitshow, but even that wasn't on par with the insane rhetoric about our city being burned down and our streets swarming with terrorists. I've been talking a lot about the situation currently unfolding around the ICE facility because I lived in that area for several years. I drove past it all the time until very recently, and still do occasionally. I was there when much more significant protests were happening, and when basically nothing at all was happening. What's going on now is not in the same universe as anything that could warrant a national guard deployment, let alone the insurrection act, or whatever else authoritarian bullshit they can conjure up. My worry going forward is that ICE will expand their extended, more militarized presence more fully out into the city proper, and that will be a different situation. The ICE facility location can't really/regularly support the bigger numbers of people that attract more aggressive assholes, but the downtown area can.

It's really annoying to have a false representation of your city, your state, your life thrown out there over and over and for idiots that have never even been there to proclaim it as gospel.

The desperation for an existential enemy is tiresome. Even when they're CLEARLY stacking an imaginary strawman, deluded fools are rushing to gas stations to bring accelerants to the bonfire.

What's even more annoying is that -based on the actual reality of my city and personal interactions- i'm about the biggest Portland "antifa" hater on here. I can't stand those motherfuckers. During the last time this all happened, I was downtown 3, 4 times a week or more in person watching things unfold myself. Those shit faced fuckers made me want to get violent myself, just not against the police (who most certainly had their own fuckery going on). All they did every day and every night was prevent peaceful protesters from doing things peacefully, and it got a lot of totally innocent, normal, peaceful people into trouble while offering rationalization for the thing they claimed to be against. But I can compartmentalize this stuff, because i'm a rational human capable of critical thinking who isn't basing their understanding of the situation on a toxic algorithm. Furthermore, when you're actually down there dealing with the chuds in person, it's extremely obvious that "antifa" are just idiots acting like dickheads and screaming the loudest. Actual anti-fascism is, of course, how everyone should feel about, well, fascists.

God, at one point there was a group of communists or whatever up from LA and all they did was try to get people to go on their website. They had a huge obnoxious banner and were marching around with it. Go the fuck home, assholes.

Yep, that’s how it’s going to go. When I see a video, I will post it or take note of who is posting the videos and give Doc a list, but I am not going to go and start searching for the videos which will take quite a bit of time. I posted several videos in the other thread, posted one last night, but I think taking note of who is posting the videos is the easier route to go, so that’s probably what I will do when I have some time with nothing else to do.
