International Trump/Putin Summit

This was an interesting part of press conference.

Dude, that's is really lame. I enjoyed the back and forth until you sunk this low. What you're arguing here is as if I left my car door unlocked while I shopped so it was ok for someone to steal my shit. They still committed a crime!
Yeah, wanting to know what our politicians really think is "low".
You guys are just upset because you guys got your pants pulled down.

No, it was a joke, and you only like jokes if they are at the expense of the other side.

A joke? The left wants war with Russia and North Korea. Can you deconstruct it?

If it’s at your side’s expense, suddenly you are all “Wait, but why did you claim a chicken crossed the road? That is a lie. Where is the evidence of this?”

No, you just made a batshit crazy and insulting claim and are trying to back off by claiming that it was a joke. Not everyone is as much of a hack as you are, friend.

Completely irrelevant.

Completely irrelevant that he only felt it appropriate to punish Russia for election meddling after his team lost?

Keep in mind, this was after months of him and the DNC claiming it was impossible effect the outcome of the election(AKA "rig"), and that anyone who doesn't accept the results of a fair election, is a danger to democracy.

But yeah, I'm sure punishing Russia after his team lost was totally coincidental, and had nothing to do with him thinking Hillary had it in the bag, and the Russian "meddling" would be nothing more than a punchline to throw at Trump, after he lost the election...

We should be aggressively diplomatic. If you're not going to fight a war with them, and obviously we shouldn't, you have to keep the pressure turned up high with sanctions and stay at the negotiating table. There's no thinking about a long-term alliance in a situation like this, except in the area of nuclear disarmament which I'm glad you pointed out, where we're overdue for a new treaty.

The problem there is that the current POTUS has no interest in it, and because his policies promote proliferation, the Saudis + Iranians will get nukes at this rate. We have no chance of outsmarting them, so it's force that will get anything done. There are no inroads via any commonality in our ways of life. His people are not democratic people, and they don't have a political culture. Those that do are enemies of the state. We will keep influencing them with our culture, but we need to act against the influence of theirs.

We may not always agree on things, but I do appreciate thoughtful convo like this Fawlty.

Also, ‘aggressively diplomatic’ should be on a dating profile bio

This POTUS made an embarrassing disgrace of himself.

Final nail. I can't believe the anti-American President stood by Putin.

I know right, those damn eastern european democracies wanting to stay free.

Fuck Russia's sphere of influence.
Do you have any indication whatsoever that Russia has designs on any E. European countries? A source?
I'll wait.

I like the red crayons personally. I know some people like the fancy stuff, but I'm a simple man.

They want increased aggressions with them.

The exaggeration is to say they want war with them.

I put this in all caps, to underline the exaggeration. Apparently the all-caps weren’t all-cappy enough for you.

It’s a joke pointing out how the once-peaceful left is getting more aggressive, disappointed when the President doesn’t ‘get tough’ with other world leaders, talking about ‘punch a nazi’ all the time, etc.

It’s a bad trend, in my view.

Money. Maybe a wee bit of Kompromat too. Whatever it is, it's about Trump, and not about anything in America's interest (obv).

"Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets"

And Trump admires dictators. @Falsedawn started calling him Il Douche, which I thought was great.

EDIT:
I'll freely admit there's a certain coolness to the cult of personality that Putin has manufactured for himself. But I also get reminded that's probably what people in Germany in the 30s thought about Hitler and what people in the former Soviet Union thought about Stalin and his epic stache too.

I like @Fawlty @Jack V Savage and @HomerThompson , but you guys are all a classic, if differently 3-pronged example of how insane people can get when the topic is politics.

‘ Agree with me, or else: ’

A) you are not smart (says Jack)
B) you are
Embarrassing

Yeah this is insane. The fact that a sitting U.S. president tacitly stated that he believes a foreign leader over his own intelligence community is nuts. There's nothing really to even be debated here. Everyone , left and right , should see this as a problem.

We really need a new Magnitsky thread. It's an insane rabbit hole of Putin's malevolence.
"It was a short introductory meeting, I asked Jared and Paul to stop by. We primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children that was active and popular with American families years ago and was since ended by the Russian government ... it was not a big issue with the campaign at the time so there was no follow-up.."
