Law Trump picks Fox News host for Defense Secretary

This guy Pete Hegseth used to be a client of the company I work for. He's kind of a prick.

He's also not qualified for this position unlike Tulsi Gabbard.

Trannies would whip your ass soy boy

Women are in the armed forces. I'm pretty sure all of sherdog would pick a tranny to beat a woman's ass too. T

They also seem to terrify Republicans, so I would think North Korea, China, or Russia would probably shit their pants if they all saw a bunch trannies coming at them.

Also, don't discount crazy factor. Who needs a drone bomb when you could just implement physiological warfare. Just send trannies, millions of trannies, into Iran to turn all their children trans because they had to look at tampons in their outhouses

Not true. Because you can easily defeat them all through misgendering.

Trump may increase spending temporarily to replace weapons stores sent to Ukraine but I think he will stop funding that war. So in the long run it will be less spending in not supporting a forever war.

And no, I don't agree with Trump on everything. All SOD are ass-kissing appointments. No president is appointing a SOD that isn't kissing their ass. It's how it works. It's funny your dumbass thinks that because someone kissed ass to be the head of the CIA, then kissed ass to make SOD that it makes him qualified.
And what about the rest of the budget? I guarantee you the GOP asks for increases. And what weapon stores sent to Ukraine need to be replaced exactly?

There are degrees of ass-kissing. Notice how several of Trump's SODs during the first term told to him to fuck off on certain issues? Doubtful this guy will do that when it matters most.

And hey since you are convinced that the SOD we were talking about earlier was unqualified, what don't you like about his tenure exactly? Would you rate him a success or not?

Bingo. The US leadership has been stuffing the same "credentialed" insiders into all of its key posts for my entire adult life and it's been nothing but failures. Surely, surely, this time will be different if we just do the same thing harder!

I don't agree with most of Trump's appointments and I think most of them are shitbags, but at least he's willing to put some outsiders in the mix to try and fix things or get them going in a different direction instead of choosing from the same group of clowns and getting more guaranteed failure.
Which SODs do you assess as failures and successes exactly?

Harold Brown is the only one in the past 50 years or so who I'd consider a success, the rest of them were either incompetent or warmongering shit bags, usually both.

they have much in common (with the exception of your cult leader being a draft dodger) like hiring family, corruption and a history of infidelity.

I know you are an insane person but a Fox news host as Secretary of Defense? If you wrote this for a bad TV show you would be laughed out of a Hollywood writing room. The US is sending a green light to any adversary that the US is no longer a serious threat.

There's a shocker.

Yea must be true , they should have charged him.
Don’t worry I’m sure about 5 woman will come forward in the next few weeks for new allegations

“A summary of the police report said the victim suffered a contusion to their right thigh, but the city did not release the report or additional details. The city did not indicate charges were filed in the case, nor name Hegseth as the aggressor.”

I must have missed all the posts in here showing how this woefully underqualified person is actually really qualified? His background as a junior officer in the army national guard isn't what got him the job; being on Fox News is.

You guys want to play dumb, so be it.
It was pretty obvious to me you were laying a trap to see how many people you could sucker into defending this pick.

I'm surprised so many took the bait, even here. Disappointed @Bob Gray walked into it, wonder what @Cajun thinks?

@Otto! , you're probably the most rational conservative I know on Sherdog, I hate to bother you but do you have an opinion on the nominations? To me it just feels like Trump is trolling the country.

What did i walk into? I said acting like "fox news host" is the sole reason he was picked is disengenous and isnt going to start a good faith conversation on overall qualifications. Was I wrong?

You focused on the sincerity of his comment and ignored the woeful inadequacy of the candidate. Did you know he was vetted by the RNC in 2016, was determined to fail to meet the requirements for much lesser positions, and has in fact done nothing but Fox News for the past eight years?

You called Hola a disingenuous hack, am I to believe you support this nomination and would confirm if you were in the senate? How Hola phrased this is COMPLETELY irrelevant if you don't think Hegseth is a decent candidate.

He was a member of the Manhattan Institute, is that what you might think qualifies him?

LOL and suddenly you're all about spelling words correctly and using proper punctuation. Shift change, is it?

I focused on the reason he made the thread and the reason he gave. Dont blame me for responding to what he says. Hola is a disingenuous hack. He's similar to a left wing metal gear solid. This wasn't some 4d mental chess game he was playing to lure people into his clever trap.

On the face of it, he doesnt seem like a great pick, but at the same time he isn't some rube off the street either. I like some of the stuff he says, but I'd probably want to know more about him and see him being questioned before deciding whether I'd vote against him. Truth is, I know little about him. He wouldn't be the first person to enter a presidents cabinet without having the best qualifications. Even if he is underqualified, he isnt Gaetz. My policy is more or less the president can pick who they want for their cabinet and then reap the benefits or suffer the consequences unless someone can show that the candidate would be an actual danger.

Things to note, regardless of what anyone thinks of Trump, if he truly desires to shake things up and make changes he's going to have to make some unorthodox choices. As in people that wouldnt fit into the "system". This doesnt change anything I said above, if it turns out to be a terrible choice then he deserves all the blame.

Also, Trump is obviously polarizing, but a large amount of people refuse to believe that he earned any of his wealth through anything other than luck and circumstance. Thats obviously nonsense. Becoming a billionaire is extraordinarily difficult even if you come from a rich family. My point is he's shown to be able to put people in positions that pay off. Will this? I dunno, only time is gonna tell. Rubio is a decent pick. Not making any waves and hes just there to not make waves. Homan, Gabbard and Wiles are great picks. Gaetz seems terrible and I have no idea what that's about unless its testing the waters/misdirection. And now Hegseth is mostly a question mark for me. I wanna hear more from him.

Never said it was true, ShadowCan. However, the more I learn about Hesgeth, the more clear it becomes that he's a twit and such allegations really aren't that surprising.

I'm glad he served and can speak reasonably well but other than that he's a complete tomato can.

He didn't actually give a reason why Hegseth was nominated, he just called him a Fox host, which is accurate. I was kidding about the trap, just having some fun. I tagged you because I didn't like seeing you join the dogpile, you're better than that.

Does anybody know how much money Trump has? The people who like him say he's richer than god, the people who hate him say he's broke. I don't pretend to know. I do know someone who will almost certainly retire a billionaire, and he started from absolutely nothing. His father went bankrupt when he was a kid and committed suicide, leaving his family destitute. He's currently worth several hundred million and earned every penny.

I've looked at Hegseth and he isn't up to the role. Not by a mile, I mentioned how badly he failed the vetting process in 2016. I've only commented on him and Gaetz. Don't care about Rubio and haven't really liked Gabbard since she was a Democrat, but we can talk about her in a few years.

I'm doing my level best to stop following American politics, your country is too damned depressing. You're deep into a gilded age and your poorest citizens are voting for it.

In another thread I wished Trump all the best because as much as I dislike him, he won and is president. His failures are failures for the entire country, and I know far too many excellent Americans to wish that on them.

You like what he says? He told Trump to pardon criminals that butchered women and children. He wanted to do a preemptive strike on a nuclear facility. He’s another insane evangelical that would let the whole world burn if it meant bringing the prophecy of end times. Listen to some of his speeches on Israel. Then there are his tattoos which are a clear indication he’s an extremist.

Thanks for tagging me. I haven’t paid much attention in the last few days, but going through the list I see some bad/questionable ones and some that don’t raise red flags.

RFK as Health and Human Services comes across as a bad joke. While I support his aim of addressing the use of additives and food processing, a vocal anti-vaxxer should not come within 10 miles of that office.

Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence has some potential. While IIRC I don’t believe that she has an intel background I do think that she’s very smart and understands the security issues that she’ll be dealing with.

Todd Blanche as Deputy AG is bad imo as he was too involved in the defense of Trump’s legal woes.

I’ll give a wait and see approach to Hegseth, as I think he should be given benefit of the doubt for now. As a former officer myself I can say that Maj is still a very junior rank in the big scheme of thing, so while he has experience at the tactical and operational level, it doesn’t grant him an understanding of strategic-level thinking. Of course this position has the benefit of having senior military advisors, but at the end of the day he will be required to make the decisions and see through the bias and senior level agendas.

I hope you’re doing well. I just moved near Sherbrooke this summer and loving every minute of it.

Cheers!
