To be clear, I do have issues with these Presidential pardons, but I doubt that's something my displeasure with them will change - hence why I think at the very least pardoning someone should have criteria attached to it. For the record, if it were on the table for the practice to be completely banned, I'd be all for that. As for Trump, I recall reading he said he was considering pardoning some of them. I could be wrong, I just don't recall damned near everyone being on the table.
I think you and the other guy are focusing on my displeasure with it specifically being Trump doing this and attaching it to my unhappiness that Trump was just following through with what he apparently said he'd do - I don't like it at all, doesn't matter who the president is, regardless of whether he promised it or not. However, since he's in his right to do so, I'd have preferred that each individual was scrutinized for their role in J6 - I don't believe everyone there is guilty of trying to thwart democracy, just some of them. I also don't believe Trump encouraged them to do anything other than peacefully protest, but that's just my opinion and another discussion.
Since it is legal, I believe there should be some nuance or criteria attached to who is elligible.
