Trump Jokes about Congressman Assaulting Reporter

well based on your outrage at people confronting Repub's at restaurant tables I think it is fair to say if those same people punched or body slammed them and Dem's made jokes about it, that you would be outraged.

Can you agree with that?
@HereticBD
Do you recall your logic re: kicking Sanders (and/or Cruz) out of a restaurant led to Pilosi being driven out by other patrons? Still think Trump is just being a troll and an asshole but it's harmless?

The guy I responded to was saying he was making it up, and joking about pro wrestling in general. That's not true at all. He was applauding an actual assault of a reporter.

Also, that is the title of the CNN article I linked in the OP. Those aren't my words.

Fair enough. I was lazy and jumped in without bothering to catch up. I just watched the footage of body slam and listened to the audio. Then watched Trump joke about it. Gianforte has to get thicker skin if he's going to be in politics. Physical confrontation has no place in politics. I thought it was interesting that Trump described his own reaction when he heard about it as tribal. He didn't care that the guy did something bad. He only cared that it could hurt his team.

Yeah, Trump had the capital and local connections to hire top level architects and build luxury apartments on some of the most valuable land in the world.

That's not a code for success that lesser minds could crack. Donny is the Einstein of landlords.
I was referring to Fred Trump ;)

I think I posted a Maxine Waters gif for Cruz. As far as Pelosi goes, I commented on her party feeding a beast by specifically encouraging those type of tactics. What goes around comes around.

They don't have much to do with each other. Trump is just messing around, and people are trying to link it to the Saudi's murdering a journalist, as if Trump's rhetoric had anything to do with some backwards ass country silencing a critic. Is Trump responsible for all of Putin's alleged murders as well? From here on out, every time a journalist goes missing in some shit hole country, Trump is somehow to blame?

I tell you what though, if there ends up being a cluster of journalists getting body slammed all over the country, I'll pass some blame onto Trump.

(CNN)President Donald Trump praised Montana Republican Rep. Greg Gianforte for assaulting a reporter during his campaign last May, saying "any guy who can do a body slam ... he's my guy" and made a gesture mimicking a body slam.

At a Montana rally Thursday night, Trump admitted, "I shouldn't say this," but continued and said, "there's nothing to be embarrassed about."
The comment comes at the same time as the administration responds to the disappearance and apparent murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Khashoggi was last seen entering the Saudi consulate on October 2 and Turkish media reports that an audio recording suggests Khashoggi was tortured and killed soon after entering the building before being dismembered.
Trump said Thursday "it certainly looks" like Khashoggi is dead. But, Trump said he is "waiting for the results" of investigations being conducted by Saudi Arabia and Turkey, after which he pledged to make "a very strong statement."

Gianforte pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault in June after he was convicted of "body slamming" Ben Jacobs, a reporter for The Guardian. A judge sentenced him to a 180-day deferred sentence, 40 hours of community service, 20 hours of anger management and a $300 fine along with a $85 court fee.

Absolutely disgusting. Amidst world outcry over a reporter being slaughtered by Saudi Arabia, Trump applauds violence perpetrated by a Republican Congressman against a reporter in our own country.

It's no wonder MBS is so emboldened by this reckless, unhinged "President".
Gayest OP ever.

If the reporter didn’t want to be bodyslammed then he should have sprawled.

Trump is glorifying a physical attack on a member of the press. To him it may be just messing around. To Alex Jones, he was just messing around with Pizzagate, until someone shot up Comet Pizza. But none of these things has much to do with the other?

So should the media be held accountable for how they handled the Kavanaugh situation and create such hysteria a guy started calling Senators and threatening to shoot them? Or how about the guy that actually did shoot republicans?

I wasn't aware Alex Jones was the sole person pushing the Pizzagate theory, and all responsibility for some nut going crazy over it, should fall on his shoulders.

But yeah, journalists are not getting assaulted all over the country, so what's your point? If it starts happening, we can talk. Also, Trump did not say to his supporters, "When you see these people in the street, or at restaurant, or a mall, or wherever, I want you to body slam them!"

Its different than from Waters told her supporters to do. Trump was messing around. Waters was giving marching orders.

Fair enough. We'll see where it leads. And whether this particular action results in further consequences for reporters in the future, the potential for such harm to the free press is an issue. That's not really the point, though, is it? Trump was clearly not "just messing around". He was providing his base with an excuse to let such deplorable behaviour slide. So, while he didn't directly state their marching orders, he supplied them, nevertheless.

If it were true that the so-called MSM were responsible, then sure, they ought to be held equally accountable. Take them to court like Alex Jones was.

im sure the same people outraged by this were equally outraged when rand paul was attacked by a neighbor

So how comfortable are we with politicians assaulting reporters, then?

100%? I'm getting a 100% vibe from the deplorables.

NPC detected, repeating key words to try and invoke an emotional response. Notice how the subject uses "fuck off" and then proceeds to call names such as "little bitches". The subject is also programmed to throw in "TDS" to validate it's own existence.

I love how they make up 50 buzzwords, make up a mental illness to deflect from any criticism of their daddy, and it's everyone else who isn't mentally balanced and can't think for themselves.

Nah, he was joking around and playing to the crowd. Do you honestly think anyone takes that shit as seriously as say, Don Lemon pretends to? People need to lighten up. Not everything is a goddamn dog whistle.

I also think people are a little tired of the media playing the helpless innocent victim all the time. Here's Chris Cuomo, a member of the free press, all but endorsing ANTIFA:
