“Trump is not the problem, he’s a symptom of the problem.

Why do you think people voted for Trump? Because everything is going great in their lives?

Trump didn’t take us to Iraq, Trump didn’t pass NAFTA, Trump didn’t bail out the banks and screw the home owners.

If people actually knew what Bill Clinton and Barack Obama actually did, they would be screaming bloody murder.

The Democratic Party completely turned their back on workers, they got in bed with Wall Street and Silicon Valley.

In order to get better we have to come to terms with this. We have to come to terms with what’s wrong.

Just because he's a CTer? Not sure what makes him a true liberal beyond the nutty attacks on the political left. IMO, a true liberal is someone who values reason above all else and rejects CTism.

Yanis Varoufakis had kind of the same thoughts.

He basically attributed the failure of the Obama administration to penalize the very wealthy for the credit crunch and instead putting a burden on the tax payer is what resulted in Trump. Somehow the .01 percent became ridiculously wealthier from the crash and rebound and everyone else had to eat cake.

Slavoj Zizek also points out that the disaster of Trump was a symptom, and not a cause.

It's really not much of a rebellious position to take to be honest. Generally people wouldn't resort to comedians or amateur celebrities with little knowledge and experience if there wasn't inherent glaring faults in the system of politicians doing what they should be, fighting for the betterment of the populace instead of looking after the interest of the elite class much more so than everyone else.
