They do. They hire a shit ton on unneeded administrators, who fund the unions, who donate heavily to the Democratic Party. Would you like the entire money flow? It's quite simple.
Tax Payers $$$ >>> Gov't $$$ >>> Teachers and Administrators $$$ >>> Public Unions $$$ >>> Democratic Party $$$
That is the ONLY reason Democrats and their Left Cult drones scream when any meaningful reform is proposed in education. They don't want that massive money flow messed with. If they actually care about the kids, they'd allow strong competition in education, which would focus on having the beast teachers getting paid the most, because they didn't hire a bunch of administrative staff. I guarantee I could automate most of their ridiculous jobs and use that money for the teachers and students.
What a load of horseshit. This is always how the far right talks about "education reform". What they actually mean is siphoning off millions of dollars from public schools to private schools that aren't required to follow the same set of standards OR accept every student like public schools are required to do.
There's a reason why on average (despite being criminally underpaid in most cases) public school teachers make more money than private school teachers. Want to guess what that is?
Here's a perfect example of right wing "education reform" in action in West Virginia.
Public schools likely to lose $21M after thousands of students left for Hope Scholarship
“The schools have fewer resources to serve the students who remain,” said Kelly Allen, director of the WVCBP.
The Hope Scholarship, the state’s education saving account program, gives West Virginia students roughly $4,400 per student in taxpayer money that would otherwise go to public schools.
The program is one of the nation’s broadest education savings accounts programs with a wide range of uses for the money and limited required public reporting on how it is being spent. More than $300,000 in funds have been used at out-of-state schools that border West Virginia.
West Virginia School Board Approves More Closures
“Most towns die after a closure of a high school,” said Charles Goff, mayor of the town of Hundred in Wetzel County. He spoke to board members in Charleston ahead of the vote. “[Towns] lose incorporated status, lose elected officials in town, and it leads to fire departments closing and town charters being revoked. That includes losing EMS. We are an hour away from the hospital, and fire and EMS are crucial in our community.”
This is the reality of right wing "education reform" when put into practice. Just like pretty much everything else they propose, it's filling the pockets of the rich, and fucking over everyone else.
