Anybody who is able to instantly reach 10.4 million people with a text or image message and is idolized by huge amounts of young impressionable people and might choose to use the platform to share an anti-Trump sentiment could, and I stress, could be seen as a political enemy. I'm not necessarily defending that phrase though, as taken literally you're right, it's not 100% accurate.
But, as a measure of one's ability to engage in perception management, Steph is clearly a powerful voice. Oh, and the 10.4 is just Steph's twitter following number, not that of the other players in the NBA who engage in similar messaging or that of those in other sports or in Hollywood, music, etc.
Sure, he's "just a baller". But when the idolization gets to the level it's at, you can't really argue people aren't listening to everything he says and putting weight behind it due to his success, fame, popularity etc.
