I weighed his qualifications when it was announced that he was under consideration. At what point was an American to weigh the merits of his CV, my dear Canadian friend?

Going back to the 1900s, I can't think of a single Secretary of Defense who had no management or massive policy experience. They always had one of the other, if not both. Hegseth has neither. There have been nominees for the position I've opposed in the past 20 or 30 years, but those were based on policy or ideological differences. Not basic questions like have you ever successfully managed an organization.
