Elections Trump Cabinet Appointment - TRACKER

Guess no one gives a shit about energy.

Yeah, it is only responsible for the operation of the modern world. It's also amusing that if you asked the average American on the street which federal government department is responsible for the research, development, manufacturing, and testing of America's thermonuclear weapons arsenal, they'd most likely guess Department of Defense if not Homeland Security. But it's actually Energy, and the DOE oversees nearly half of all US national laboratories.

Secretary of the Interior - NoDak Governor Doug Burgum @Deorum

* Bureau of Indian Affairs
* Bureau of Land Management
* Bureau of Reclamation
* National Park Service
* US Fish & Wildlife Service
* US Geological Survey

Interior is essentially an afterthought for most people where national politics are concerned and operates on one of the smallest budgets of any federal department at several billion short of $20b annually. Even the bison on its official seal looks solemn. I think Burgum was hoping for something a little more high profile, but instead he gets the actual greatest executive branch post to be had. I brought up to @Islam Imamate in another thread that perhaps DJT will actually look to push for and pursue his "Freedom Cities", lol.

In any case, Interior - if not all the agencies under its umbrella - needs to be relocated out of DC and to the American West where all of our public lands are actually located.

NoDak Doug oversees the NPS, right? Man I hope we finally see some increases there.

An alternative would be to re-up the Great American Outdoors Act that DJT signed into law in 2020 and runs through FY2025. It's been supplying an extra $2 billion annually to the NPS on top of its base appropriations and hasn't added a dime to any new spending since the funding has been supplied by royalties paid to the government from offshore oil and gas development.

I'd also like to see the entire GYE transferred to the stewardship of the NPS. As of now, this region of the country constitutes 2 national parks, 3 national wildlife refuges, 6 national forests, and 10 wilderness areas in addition to holdings by BLM (bureau of land management), as well as state, private, and tribal entities. It is the greatest ecosystem on the planet and has the OG of all national parks across the world at its core.

Sell me on her.

She has no qualifications as an intelligence professional. She is a reserve lieutenant colonel, previously served in the Hawaii Army National Guard in positions focusing on medical, police, and civil-affairs-support positions. She has won some local elections and also represented Hawaii in Congress. She was a committee member for 2 years on a homeland security panel.

And now she’s ready to run our national intelligence? She’s going to coordinate and direct our military’s clandestine arms, the cia, FBI, and national security efforts?
"no qualifications"

why dont you tell me what actual qualifications are needed?

With republicans in charge? Lol. Get ready for a double digit budget cut at the very least.

Republican politicians don't give a flying fuck about public lands. The next 4 years is going to be an all out assault on them and the people tasked with caring for them.

Trump and team wondering what role they can give to a black guy so they can make the blacks for trump camp feel a little bit better.

Off the top of my head, some things I’d want a qualified candidate to have experience in.

Intelligence, counter intelligence, high ranking experience at any of our intelligence agencies, foreign policy, international diplomacy, high level military positions, international history in regards to the cultures of middle eastern and/or Eastern European nations,

That’s just off the top of my slightly hung over head.

Tulsi does have a lot of that experience, she went out of her way to meet assad in person, performed the highest form of international diplomacy there is. Many dont agree with what she did, but to say that she's got no intelligence background is laughable.

I know they’re two different positions—I identified Levine as Assistant Sec, I’m not sure if I misspoke somewhere else?

You seemed to be combining the two positions (ASH and Secretary) when you made this comment:

Aside from just being an MD, she has a lengthy resume in all sorts of areas of public health (eating disorders, opioid crisis, all kinds of stuff). You find that irrelevant? It certainly has to be leagues better than having some brain-worm having, bear carcass dumping, vaccine misinformation spreading, CT-loving wingnut at the top end of the agency,

Anyway, I’m sure you would’ve been a fine choice too, and I’m sorry the DEI hire got the nod instead. ;)
Meh, no thanks. I'm too politically incorrect and didn't care to try and get promoted from O-6 to O-7. There's absolutely no way I'd want to be ASH. At least you've finally acknowledged why Levine was selected. So thanks. <lol>

What is the purpose of this argument? That one unjustified appointment justifies another?

The difference would appear to be Becerra isn't an unhinged lunatic about health practices that appears to glean his ideas from pop pseudoscientific podcasts run by people without any formal education in medicine, public health, or science of any kind. Internet armchair expects. The kind who follow gluten-free diets for no justifiable reason because they fancy themselves more knowledgeable than other people despite testing indicating they objectively do not. He trumpets ideas that have been refuted, repeatedly, by rigorous review of the scientific method, not disgraced academic's on Big Pharma's payroll. I'm all for our government finally combating the lobbyist interests overtaking institutions like the FDA. But just because a bunch of frayed hippies in Santa Cruz relentlessly rant about that doesn't mean I'd send one of them to do it. No interest in RFK for the same reason.

Looks like we're going to have dick rockets flying around the White House.

You seemed to be whining about RFK not being an MD . . . I simply pointed out that the current Secretary wasn't either.

And you'd love a dick rocket and you know it.

I picture it like a model rocket kit but with a dildo that launches off at a 45 degree angle before parachuting into some random backyard creating a mystery that gets discussed at family gatherings for years to come

Apparently Trump has told Thune that is he doesn’t get Gaetz confirmed, he will force both the senate and house into recess and use a law never used to put him in

It should be noted that there's no evidence that Bannon has even spoke to Trump since his release from prison.
He has no role in the transition team.
He isn't in the next cabinet.

He's talking shit to get attention and also make conspiracy-theory leftist shit themselves.

What's both puzzling and amusing to me is how exorcised some people from other countries become over the election, etc.

I mean, I don't give a fuck about Trudeau (or Castro Junior as one of my friends from Mississauga calls him).

Canada has some of the most beautiful terrain, glorious fries with cheese curd and gravy, AND ketchup flavored chips.

wtf else could you want? lol
I'm always puzzled by this type of comment.

1- Trump is a polarizing figure.
2- We're in the War Room.
3- The US is the most powerful country in the world.
4- Their decisions can often impact the planet.
5- Canadians have a special interest because of the ties we share.
6- Your elections/politics have a lot of drama. It's a beautiful, addictive soap opera.

If the dems were smart they'd all vote to confirm trumps most batshit appointees... poison his administration from the inside.
